Filthy, dirty place. One table available to sit at. The rest of the tables were covered with piles of supplies and paper. I saw him drop an onion on the floor, then cut it for our enchiladas. Our friend ordered a steak burrito and it was cold in the middle. Should have turned around at the door!

You know when you feel like you walked into your Tío’s house that you’re getting some good tacos man. Ren is very personable and very fun to talk to about ancient mayans. The tacos were amazing it’s one giant taco and while the price scared me at first it was well worth it. Tamales which brought me in are also really good and they got corn in them which I’ve always loved for the texture and sweetness they bring to them. Be sure to ask Uncle about his homemade hot sauce cause it’s pretty freaking great. If the door is locked give him a minute, he could be in the restroom or doing something else.

Best Mexican burrito I have ever had. The place looks like a messy home kitchen and the owner is not bothered by the looks. He asks you what you want and he starts preparing it as he would for a friend. Burritos were served very warm and I savored every bite. A bit out of the way depending on where you stay on the island but definitely worth the drive.

Really typical place along the road. If you stop, it is gonna be for the unique friendly Chef and great mexican cuisine. Do not hesitate before the look of the place, you won’t regret it, 100%.
Burritos are a treat, and big as well. Banana bread is amazing.
Thank you for everything Chef

First of all, GO HERE if you have the chance. We had a lovely experience. We loved hearing Reneldo’s travel stories while he made fresh, amazing Mexican food for us. We had the steak taco, taquitos, and tamale. All were amazing. Hand made, expertly crafted, and delicious. My one regret is our itinerary didn’t allow for a second visit. This is worth a detour on your Hawai’i schedule.

Don’t judge a book by its cover. The food we got here was great. The conversation was fun. I’d recommend calling ahead and taking out.

Doesn’t get more authentic than this! Perfect Belt road quick food stop for some incredible tacos, tamales, rice and beans. Cookie place next door was a nice bonus as well.

What a fantastic place with great tasty food. We stopped here on our way to Hilo with a party of 8 and super hungry ordered pretty much everything from the menu. And oh my God the food is Soo fresh and tasty. Don’t be discouraged by the Rusty and shabby design of the place. You and your tummy will enjoy everything that’s here. We all loved it!

This is an excellent stop from Hilo to Hapuna. We ordered Gauc (damn good), 6 chicken tacos, and 2 tamales. It was all excellent. It was a one man shop, so I wouldn’t take large groups in just yet. We still had gauc in under 5 minutes. Tacos within 11 minutes. The tamales were directly behind. Everything was fresh and extremely tasty. It was not overly spicy, even my kids could eat everything. The gentleman running the place was very friendly.
