I think silly as it sounds bagels are a personal preference to a lot of folks based on how they were introduced to them. At the risk of being scandalous, I actually prefer my bagels not too bready/chewy. These bagels are pretty much perfect to my preferences–a lovely bit of chew with a light crisp when toasted. Perfect for sandwiches (in my opinion!) as the thickness of the bagel will not overwhelm the filling or squish it out. The flavors of the bagels themselves are quite good, you can tell they’re not just leaving it the spice coating on the outside.
Their menu is spot on– a good amount of tasty choices that offers some variety without overwhelming. Their flavored cream cheeses are more like spreads–still quite tasty and flavorful but a little creamier and thinner than you’d expect cream cheese to be. Every time I’ve gone there, the staff is always very kind and thoughtful and warm. Overall, a really nice establishment to have in our community.

Our first visit to “bkd Bagels”
It is located in the
PURCELLVILLE GATEWAY SHOPPING CENTER
There is plenty of free parking in a very clean and safe environment.
I tried the “People’s Choice” sandwich, and it was delicious.
Everything bagel
Smoked lox (salmon)
Cream cheese w/chives
Tomato
Red onion
Capers
My wife had a bagel with the (lox +scallion) cream cheese, and it was good as well.
We would definitely recommend it.
They have three seating areas to choose from: main floor dining, upstairs, and limited seating on the front porch.
If you wanted to accompany your bagel, “bkd Bagels” does sell coffee, sodas, mimosas, and beer.
Check the place out…

I’ve been here a few times. Lately it’s lacking. This morning, I ordered a plain bagel with scallion cream cheese ,bacon & tomato. When I got home I realized that there was no bacon . Not only that but there was barely any cream cheese. Usually it’s almost too much cream cheese. This time it was minimal. Very disappointed. I left a good tip. At least the tomato was fresh and the cashier was welcoming. If I had time to drive back I may have. But it’s kind of a waste of gas.

Got a French toast and a cinnamon raisin bagel and both just tasted like plain bread. Additionally, grabbed some of the bagel balls and unfortunately they all had the everything bagel seasoning all over them since they share a container, which were not fans of. These tasted just like more dense balls of bread. We’ve had some pretty good bagels in the area, but this was just underwhelming.

I adore this place. There are private spots to go sit with a friend or a good book. My family also loves sitting at the bar and watching people come and go while we eat. The bagels are delicious (the BELT is my favorite) for breakfast and for lunch, and the staff are always friendly. I’m so glad we have a place like this in Purcellville!

I LOVE that they have GF bagels. The hangover bagel is incredibly yummy with a great ratio of cream cheese to bagel. I only wish it was a bit cheaper since $19 for one bagel is steep.

BKD bagels are delicious. The staff is excellent. I must absolutely commend the two people that took care of me: Caitlin and Maddie. Both were outstanding, made great suggestions on what bagels and what sandwiches I should have. Also the interior of the Purcellville location is just delightful.

Pretty decent spot for bagels in the area. Not really comparable to NE bagels, but better than a chain like Einstein. Mainly giving it 4 stars for convenience, since I’d prefer a brueggars sandwich over these (more comparable bagel place) and the price is a bit high. Also check your bagels when you pick them up, had mine mixed up with another order once out of the 4 times I’ve been.
