I don’t usually like to leave negative reviews, but when you dine at a restaurant of this level—especially in a Four Seasons—you naturally have high expectations.
Out of everything we ordered, the carpaccio was the highlight. It was good—but not particularly memorable. The risotto, unfortunately, was the most disappointing. The texture was very loose, almost like a cheese soup, and both people who ate them ended up with stomach discomfort afterward. The short rib pasta was decent, enjoyable but not outstanding. As for the focaccia, it wasn’t our favorite, but we chose not to return it because the staff was genuinely kind and attentive, and we didn’t want to make a scene.
I do want to emphasize that the service was excellent. Everyone was warm, professional, and very welcoming throughout the meal. Our disappointment was really with the food itself rather than the hospitality. Overall, we left feeling that the dishes didn’t quite meet the level we were expecting, given the restaurant’s reputation and setting.
As longtime fans of Frasca in Boulder and its sister location in Denver, we arrived at Tavernetta Vail with high expectations—and it absolutely delivered. Located within the Four Seasons, the restaurant is beautifully designed, blending warmth and sophistication in a way that feels both inviting and refined.
We began with the burrata, served with a vibrant homemade pesto. It was soft, creamy, and perfectly balanced—easily one of the best starters we’ve had in a while. We also shared the insalata mista, a simple but delicious salad. We asked for the buttermilk dressing to come on the side, but honestly, it didn’t need it. The greens were fresh, well-dressed, and generously portioned for two to three people.
For mains, we shared the gluten-free spaghetti (available by request) with uni, dungeness crab, and ossetra caviar- bold, luxurious combination that was flawlessly executed. We paired that with the Alaskan halibut, which was perfectly cooked and beautifully plated.
To end the meal, we enjoyed a couple of glasses of moscato alongside their panna cotta—a delicate and satisfying finish.
Service was attentive and friendly throughout, and the overall experience was seamless from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back.
I started with the Cassini cocktail (rum, passionfruit, lemon), bright and refreshing. We shared:
Focaccia
Burrata
For mains, we tried:
Cavatelli Nero
Rigatoni
Risotto
Ippoglosso in Saor (halibut)
Finished with ☕ espresso and Torta di Carote. Every dish was flavorful and perfectly prepared. Great food, great service, definitely a must-visit in Vail.
We were not disappointed as we were treated over the top with excellent service and fantastic Italian food from the Alpine region. Different from Tavernetta Denver, this location has a unique vibe, elegant and cozy with stunning mountain views.
I want to give special thanks to Justin and Mike for their warm hospitality crafting a very special experience for our celebration, and to Casey who paid special attention to all the details.
Excellent experience! ❤️
