***EXPERIENCE 1*** (Positive) 12/25/24
At KJ Chinese Restaurant I was greeted and seated immediately upon entering. Service was fast, and friendly. I ordered the Sauteed Beef with Orange Peel, and Yang Chow Fried Rice. The fried rice arrived first. It looked picture perfect, so I took one. It tasted as good as it looked. It was lightly seasoned, which I like when eating fried rice with accompanying dishes. It allows the flavors of the fried rice to come through, and pairs well with most other dishes. When the Beef with Orange Peel arrived it looked equally as good. It was lightly-crisp, and the beef had a bit of a chew. My only issue was the sauce was unbalanced. Parts were bitter, others too sweet, and others were just right. Overall, it was a very good dish.
If you enjoy true Chinese flavors and textures, you’ll probably enjoy this place. If on the other hand you enjoy more west-ifed Chinese food, then you might not enjoy it as much as other restaurants.
I watched people sitting there trying to get the servers attention (they were white) who just ignored them. I think we dodged a bullet you should too.
Finally our turn, they wanted to seat us on the casino floor area with a small barrier around it and my husband said no we want to go inside the restaurant and sit at a booth.
They called the manager over and we explained this is my 70th birthday we made reservations and her reply is we don’t take reservations they want to charge me money. Huh?
So we get seated in a booth and we order sweet and sour pork and I got shrimp fried rice now I was interested in the shrimp fried noodles but when I ask the guy what is it like being Sprouts or pasta and he said stir fry doesn’t tell me anything else about it.
The food that we got was good but never once did they come back over do you need more water do you need a napkin do you need a knife nothing we should have just taken it out and gone up to our room that’s how much service we got.
None. They drop our bill off on the table and I noticed that there’s three items instead of two one of them is a $25 bowl of soup that we didn’t order or eat. It took quite a while for them to take that off and we paid and left.
No happy birthday no dessert nothing very cold and informal like ordering fast food.
I gave them two stars instead of one cuz the food actually was good.
Oh and they serve water iced tea hot tea and that’s it.
We were first in line at 11am on a overcasted Monday morning.
Pricing is fair. Pricing at any entertainment establishment is a little on the higher side so it definitely not surprised by that. That being said, I didn’t pay for dinner, I was invited.
Now for the food itself. Honestly, it exceeded my expectations when it comes to casino eats. We ordered the house fried rice, orange chicken, house lo mein, sweet and sour pork, and some dumplings.
The order took a while. Wait time is definitely an issue but the server did keep apologizing. They also had a huge line of people on the “to-go” side. I remember checking the time and it had already been 11:50am and still no food on the table.
When the food did arrive, it was great. The house fried rice had a really clean taste with every bite of chicken, shrimp, and beef acting as tiny explosions of taste. It wasn’t heavy on the fry process and that’s much appreciated. The sauces used on all the dishes were very delicious. Orange chicken had the right amount of crunch, didn’t leave any room to desire anything more. The zest was superior to any other OC I’ve had in other Chinese food establishments. The Lo mein noodles were thick enough to have a satisfying slurp. The sweet and sour pork were exactly just that – sweet & sour, and they had a lot of excess sauce that you could use to lather on top of the clean fried rice.
Overall, food was great, time was wasted, money was exchanged.
Overall, we experienced great flavors and all the ALL food textures. We want to come back here
