Found my new favorite spot on Pacific Ave! This was my first time visiting, and I was blown away by the unique combination of the owners’ Peruvian and Japanese backgrounds—it’s a must-try for downtown Santa Cruz. We started with the spicy garlicky edamame, and it was incredible. I also loved my vegan tofu roll; the flavors were so fresh tofu, avocado cucumber with a light sauce. The service was great, and the atmosphere is clean and very friendly. I’ll definitely be back!

Small but wonderful little sushi place! Place looks unassuming and like a standard sushi joint but you have to try their Peruvian style sashimi! Each piece of fish has its own unique sauce and it was all really delicious. The orange sauce which was also on some rolls is so bright and delicious!
Staff was super sweet and service was fast.
Definitely worth trying!

Lovely place close to downtown santa cruz strip. The oyuki roll and tea were amazing and very fresh. I recommend going here and order some rolls and try the Peruvian ceviche.

A new favorite!
Despite the humble appearance of their size and tables, this is a rare gem. Hidden in plain sight, Oyuki expertly serves up one of the most unique and delectable assortments of fusion in the Santa Cruz area.

Fusing the techniques and ingredients of Peru with the foundation of Japanese sushi, Oyuki produces a surprisingly effective cultural feedback-loop of flavor. As the head chef charismatically guided us through the history of influences, they were delighted to share irresistible samples of chili and garlic dressed escolar sashimi. I silently wondered why the nigiri options felt limited. Quickly, I realized every single item on the menu is personally inspired and offered with purpose.

This is not a restaurant aiming to give you the options of an everyday sushi catalogue, no. This repertoire is born of a multicultural imagination brought to life!

We tasted mango in a roll with gently seared salmon, sashimi with the house chimichurri, and all the traditional courses of miso and salad embellished with those Peruvian subtleties.

I would recommend this spot to anyone who has tasted all the basic sushi options across the USA and wants to taste something bursting with flair and creativity. This place bears the marks that only a well traveled and adventurous establishment is willing to explore. Excellent food!

***This place deserves more attention and a larger dining space! Very deserving of the support!***

Top-notch service from the owner himself. We ordered the Kitchen sink roll, the Fuji roll, the Crunchy roll and the Pantera roll with a side of spicy garlic edamame. Each roll tasted of the upmost freshness and arrived quickly to our table. Even during their participation of the downtown restaurant open house event, their service was 10/10. Would highly recommend if you are a sushi enthusiast. Easily the best sushi we have ever had, including recently eating fresh from Hawaii. We will be bringing our sons back on our next vacation.

We had a sushi roll and the chicken aji (a Peruvian dish). Both were very good. The sushi was fresh, and the chicken was tender and featured a delicious sauce.

Service was friendly. Pleasant, casual ambiance. Prices are reasonable eg about $18 for sushi rolls, $22 for the chicken entree with rice and salad

Well this isn’t something you see every day! Peruvian and Japanese? This blend was absolutely delightful!
I highly recommend the Lima Special rolls (tuna, eel and crab), the Anticucho skewer (love the aroma & flavor) and the Causitas Mix (very lemony!).

10/10! Authentic Peruvian ceviche and the sushi roll was BOMB! I asked for a recommendation with something that had spicy tuna, and the roll they served me did NOT disappoint. Can’t wait to be back and try other Peruvian dishes/ sushi rolls!

Sushi is mid and extremely disappointed in the chicken teriyaki. It should be a safe go-to but it was dry, did not taste cooked to order and sauce was weak. I thought being a Peruvian kitchen- the chicken would be solid but wasn’t. I dont know why Santa Cruz is uniquely like this- even with a new place.

Snug space with not a lot of seating, but the food is great, would highly recommend. The staff are friendly and clearly passionate about the food they’re making as they came to ask how we enjoyed it and tell us what was in it. The blend of Peruvian and Japanese is great, Nikkei flavors work well together.
