The most unpleasant part was the visible dust on the windowsills everywhere, which gave the overall impression of poor cleanliness. Since we were invited by friends, we decided to stay, but later we even found a piece of something like a sponge in the food. The staff quickly removed it, apologized, and replaced the dish — though I’m not sure if they actually prepared a new one or just took it away. On top of that, one of the kids had an ant floating in their drink. Clearly, sanitation needs serious improvement.
As for the food, I would rate it a 3–4 out of 5 overall. The scallops were very good — tender and nicely cooked. The spaghetti with meatballs, however, were a big disappointment. The meatballs were tasteless, extremely dry, and each one was the size of a fist, making them nearly impossible to eat. Desserts also didn’t impress: the chocolate cake looked big but tasted bad, and my child didn’t eat it. We later learned it was gluten-free, but no one informed us. It was so hard and dry that it was almost impossible to break. The fruit cake was more or less fine.
Overall, I would give this place a 3 out of 5, maybe 3.5 at best. They really need to work on cleanliness and order inside, because the lasting impression was below expectations.
Other customers were so impressed, they asked to take pictures of our feast.
I really didn’t think it would feed 2 people, but there was an abundance of seafood. So much so, we couldn’t eat it all at one sitting.
Each and every type of seafood was cooked to PERFECTION. The shrimp, mussels, clams, lobster, snow and king crab legs. Every bite was heaven.
Everything about the place, SO GOOD!!
Amazing oysters!!
And then, they bring out this bread. WHOA! Cheesy garlic bread!!!!!
My table got:
Clam strips- What?!?! Seems to be homemade.
Pasta Special- Superb artichoke.
Fried scallops- OMG, absolute perfection. Seriously, they were cooked to absolute perfection!!!
Mac N Cheese with buffalo chicken- delicious.
Most certainly coming back, soon!!!
Walking in, the place is smaller than I thought. The dining room was filled and seemed everyone was enjoying both the food & their company. The dining room had great plants decorating the room. As I mentioned, it is on the smaller side, so if your party is on the larger size, you may need to wait.
The menu had great options for seafood and regular (“land lovers”) options. The restaurants offer specials, so make sure the server gives you the run down. We ordered the mushrooms stuffed with crab imperial ($19.99) and a cup of soup (potato&crab) as appetizers. The mushroom appetizer had 4 mushrooms covered with crab. It was truly delicious and lux. The soup was thick with crab meat chunks. For my main meal, I got the white wine mussels and mom had fried shrimp. The mussels were great. The crostini took a while to get out. Luckily we still had the complementary bread. As for the shrimp platter, the shrimp were amazing & large!definitely freshly fried and absolutely delicious (you have a choice of the way they can be prepared). The shrimp platter fell short with the sides. Mom doesn’t necessarily want fries or pasta. We asked for potato and the daily vegetable. The chef unfortunately must have added some red pepper flakes in the butter/garlic sauce for the green beans. My mom can’t handle any spice. I maybe should have mentioned that. She also told me the mussels I had were spicy to her since the white wine/garlic sauce on the mussels also had red pepper flakes. That said, just forewarning anyone who may not like pepper flakes. They also didn’t really get the baked potato side order right. The fried shrimp were plated with cut up potatoes with a garlic sauce (again mom said they were spicy, maybe pepper flakes again?). The server also brought out a “baked” potato. So I wouldn’t totally say it’s a negative on the shrimp platter, just the sides my mom chose. We also were not offered any option of tartar or cocktail. Perhaps it would be available?
Service was great. We had our server check in a few times and they definitely refilled my water.
I would go back again. I would just try and figure out a better game plan with sides for the shrimp.
Original review: Very popular, very small place that uses some high quality seafood. They only take reservations for parties of more than two. We had to wait for a table to become available. Parking lot is tight. Nice outside patio. Service is fast and friendly. Bread basket contains very good garlic & butter cheese bread. The bread is slices of their quality hoagie rolls.
Our overall experience was average. The best dish we had was the tomato basil soup (with surprise cheese). Clams casino appetizer was not well prepared. It was just small clams with some toppings – bacon, and red peppers, some of which were charred black.
The stuffed flounder special was not great, though I did finish it all. Flounder was cooked too much I think – not moist or flaky. Crab meat stuffing did not have any distinct flavor. It was served with mashed potatoes and green beans. The mashed potatoes had very good flavor, though they were lumpy, and not quite heated all the way through. Green beans were not crisp or fresh tasting, but not bad.
The Broccoli Rabe & Rock Shrimp over pasta had good flavor, and the rock shrimp were of a higher quality than you would typically find in local restaurants. I don’t think they were quite cooked enough though. The pasta was overcooked, and the dish was swimming in way too much olive oil. A deep puddle of leftover olive oil remained, and we would have appreciated the promised refill of our bread basket, which unfortunately was forgotten.
When we first arrived, the front dining room was full of smoke. That happened once again while we were eating. You would not want to be seated in the front when this happens — smoke levels were unhealthy.
Dessert here is nothing special. Overall this place is worth another visit to try some other dishes, experience their high-quality seafood, and see what makes it so popular.
I had the lobster bisque for a starter, my husband had the clam chowder and our table shared large Caesar salads. We ordered the bangin shrimp and shared it with the table as well. For our main meals, 4 out of 5 of us had the all-you-can-eat mussels and my MIL had the fish and chips. All was incredible and the freshest seafood we’ve had in a long time.
We had a fabulous experience and are grateful to the staff and owners for doing a wonderful job. We will 100% come back again and again.
Update: We ended up going for lunch a few weeks after 1st review and it was just as enjoyable. The wait staff was a delight and we were treated like family. The cheesy bread is to die for and we enjoyed our calamari app along with the best gnocchi alfredo I’ve had in my entire life. My husband had the shrimp & lobster pasta with vodka sauce and it was incredible as well. This is becoming a frequent spot to dine. Can’t wait to try more of what they have to offer!
