While this Detroit pizza comes with generous amounts of cheese and toppings the crust suffers as a result. Smothered and insulated, it is not allowed to rise during the baking process resulting in a nice outer/bottom crust topped by warm raw dough. Hopefully this was just a result of being extremely busy. Online order for 4 pies took 1 hour. The side sauce was nothing special for me either. I would be willing to give it a second try because the hostess was very nice. Hopefully it’s not a double fault. Update 6/26/24 Still waiting to hear back from you on making it right. Update 9/19/24 still hasn’t made it right. Now rating 1 star for service and calling BS on the Chef. Cheers

Do yourself a favor and give this place a try and don’t forget to check out the seafood menu! Classy spot with an extensive menu and well priced. Great for a romantic dinner for two or the family. Got pizza today, minor error happened but made right quickly. Already planning to come back before I leave for seafood.

I was at 7 Locks Brewery down the street, they have signs on their tables advertising food from “HEMI – best Detroit style pizza”. As there weren’t other options, I ordered two pizzas.
When I walked over to pick it up, I couldn’t find the place. Eventually I had to find the address on the bill of sale and wander into the restaurant that had that number, it had signage saying “Chef Tony’s Amalfi” and nothing about HEMI or Detroit pizza. Apparently it was the correct place, and the young lady at the counter had a real attitude in telling me that, as if I was the foolish one for tentatively asking if this was the right place.
The wait was around twenty minutes for two pizzas. I ordered a Peggie Pie and a Detroit’s. They tasted pretty fantastic.
So good that we ordered one more to take home as we were leaving the brewery.
When I went to pick up that third pizza, I was told it would be another 10-15 minutes because the “ticket never came through”. That’s pretty rough since I waited 25 minutes from ordering before getting there to pick it up.
The pizza is great. It’s too bad that it’s such an ordeal to be a patron at this establishment. The extra effort alone overwhelms my interest in the food, I’m unlikely to recommend this place or return.

FINALLY was fortunate enough to try out Hemi’s Detroit Style Pizza’s, and am very impressed with how delicious and gourmet the square pies are. The deep dish crust was crispy, yet airy, and buttery crunchy, then topped with a generously thick layer of cheese.
I liked what Chef Tony has done with Hemi’s Pizza, because Chef Tony is a gourmet chef, so the toppings where really high quality like the lump crab meat pie with real thick bacon and a few others made an oridnary pizza, into a feast for my tastebu! The Short Rib Pie was equally delicious! Friendly staff at pickup. Will be back again soon!!

Super hidden place, but well priced and good Detroit style pizza! It’s located inside Tony’s but you can order online. Ordered a regular pie with onions for pickup, it has great thick crust! I think you can eat it in the restaurant too

Ordered a white pizza with meatballs for delivery and it was delicious! The crust was perfect. It even came with extra red sauce I dipped the pizza in. The meatballs came crushed on the pizza and they were a great addition. Will 100% be ordering from here again.
