Here are some spring and summer pics of the perennial plants that beautify the lower smokehouse lawn. Visible from the deck in back. Fun to see the flowers change through the spring&summer months. There’s always something blooming here.

I love this local dive bar/BBQ restaurant! It has a very welcoming and fun feel. They have games (pool, and arcade games) which is great when we go out with our son, and they sometimes have live music. We often go when my in-laws are visiting from out of state. The food is enjoyable (pretty good – doesn’t need to be the best I’ve ever had because the environment makes up for it!).

Great selection of craft beers on tap (they even have an in-house brewery). Fun place with a good vibe populated with colorful locals. The food that I saw coming out of the kitchen looked delicious, plus they have a huge smoker set up outside the main entrance. How bad ass is that. Going to definitely give the food a try next time.

What a wonderful accident it was to end up here. On a road trip from Canada to New York via Vermont, we accidentally ended up finding this place.
The food was utterly wonderful. Everything was very fresh and authentic. The restaurant stated everything was produced locally too, which would explain the freshness.
Our waiter was wonderful and helpful.
I couldn’t have been happier accidentally finding this place. I’m keen as to drive out there just to do it all again!

Atmosphere, service, and most food was fantastic. We were seated promptly, and the waitress took our drink order right when we sat down. We had a great time shooting pool and playing arcade games while we waited for our food. Most of our food was terrific, which included BBQ Chicken, Pulled Pork, Dirty Rice, Mashed Potatoes, Mac and Cheese, and French Fries. However, we ordered two racks of ribs for the table, and both racks were dry and rubbery. Dumping some of the homemade hot BBQ sauce on made them a bit better, but for a Smokehouse/BBQ restaurant they should really have much better ribs. Overall a solid experience.

Received a bill that wasn’t correct. Was charged for ribs I never received on rib special night. Had to ask about specials. Waitress never came back to give me more water or check on me and didn’t even offer my daughter a plate to eat off of. Normally I don’t write a review but I must say the service was the worst I have ever received at a restraint. On a positive note, the ribs here are PHENOMINAL.

Our food was horrible! How does their staple BBQ have no flavor? Fries were old and overcooked. Fish was underseasoned. And the mac and cheese …even government cheese tastes better. And anyone who’s ever had that knows exactly how bad it is so that saying something. But our waitress was awesome!

Though I have never eaten here….I tried…..I tried….I really tried….for the past 2 months I have called, emailed, left messages, left messages, left messages all with promises that we’ll get back to you….I tried bringing 60 people for a lunch but no avail. 60 people – that’s a good score in the restaurant business which I have been apart of for over 30 years. The last time I called I said can I speak to Jonathan (the owner)….let me check….yeah he’s not here….click. Really, he just hung up.
Really, really, what gives, are they that busy they can’t take a simple phone call or ever get back to me for over 32 months. And to hang up on me without even asking what for….snob is something I’m not accustomed to in Vermont..we are planning a caravan trip to Vermont and everyone I have spoken to has been very accommodating and super friendly – except Localfolk Smokehouse. Their loss….called Cider House (just up the street) and in one phone call I got the owner and a super nice email and followup. When you are in the restaurant business, you are in a business of dealing with the public….if you don’t want to talk to the public you shouldn’t be in business…period. Though their food maybe good but we have no idea because they wouldn’t even talk to us. If I could give no stars I would.

I love this place! Anytime I get a chance to make it out to Waitsfield I stop in. They have great food, a wide variety of beer on tap, and a fun environment. If you are in the area you shouldn’t waist your time at the over priced mountain restaurants when you have Local Folk as an option.
