The Cornell Café at Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens offers one of the most delightful lunch experiences in South Florida. Nestled within the serene surroundings of the museum and gardens, the café provides a peaceful and scenic place to enjoy a meal after exploring the beautiful landscape and exhibits. The outdoor and terrace seating overlook the tranquil gardens and lake, making each lunch feel like a moment of calm and relaxation rather than just a meal.

The menu features a well-liked selection of Japanese and Pan-Asian inspired dishes, including teriyaki bowls, bento boxes, and seafood options like salmon teriyaki. Many visitors praise the food quality as fresh, flavorful, and satisfying, often mentioning generous portions and excellent value for the price. The relaxed setting enhances the dishes, allowing you to savor both the flavors and the natural beauty around you.

Service is generally friendly and efficient, though it can get busy when the museum is crowded — especially around lunchtime — so arriving early or right when the café opens can help avoid longer lines. Even with occasional wait times during peak hours, the overall experience remains highly enjoyable.

Overall, the Cornell Café is more than just a convenient lunch stop. It’s a memorable part of your visit to Morikami. Between the lovely views, tasty food, and tranquil vibe, it easily earns a 5-star rating and is worth planning your visit around.

The Cornell Café is a peaceful and beautiful spot right inside the Morikami Gardens. The Japanese-inspired menu is delicious and a nice change from typical café food. The beautiful, tranquil view overlooking the lake makes it the perfect place to relax after exploring the gardens.

This place reminded me of my high school’s cafeteria. You go through the line, make your selection and pay. Then you move to the next line to purchase drinks & dessert. Reasonably priced. Teriyaki salmon, rice, vegetables, egg roll, dumplings, & sesame seed balls for $19! Albeit the hot South Florida atmosphere, sitting on the terrace is nice. The views of the garden exquisite.

Eating at Cornell cafe is one of our favorite things to do at the Morikami Gardens.
We arrived about 2pm and there was a LONG line of about 20+ people waiting to order. I worried that we wouldn’t be able to get lunch before they closed. But the line moved very quickly! We were able to order within 10 minutes and find a table. We sat inside, but they had both doors open and a fan on. It was a very windy day and with the fan, it was too much, so we sat in a booth out of the wind blowing through the restaurant.
We ordered some pan fried chicken gyoza, a vegetarian bento box, a fried pork entree and a crispy chicken entree.
Altogether with a boba tea, and green tea, our bill was $55. Everything comes in To-go containers.

Everyone loved their meal. The bento box is a really good deal! I will definitely get that every time I go. We had a bit of leftovers to take home. I highly recommend getting to the Gardens a little earlier and having lunch here. Don’t worry if you see a big line. It moves quickly. The restaurant adds to the all around experience of your visit.

The Cornell café provides HIGH quality Japanese food at very reasonable prices. Seating is outdoors under cover. Patrons line up for the opening, place their orders and then chose their tables. Within a reasonable amount of time, the cooking staff prepares and delivers delicious Japanese food to your table! My favorite: Seared Salmon. The prices are excellent! This place is located within the Morikami Museum and gardens, but it’s so good that you could stop by here just for lunch!!!. I highly recommend!

New menu and serving in plastic containers. You order your food and sit down then they call your number. Not friendly service.
I have been here before and it used to be much better than this time.
Beautiful view is the reason I come here.

A few vegan options. Wasn’t bad. Vegan options aren’t clearly labeled. Vegetarian options are labeled. You’ll need to ask for vegan options. We ordered the Wakame Salad and the Tofu Teriyaki. Fair pricing for museum/park food. Very clean and atmosphere is great

We love going to the Morikami Japanese museum and gardens. The Cornell Cafe is located at the gardens.
Now, you order queueing up and then look for a table. The lady taking orders was quite bossy and unfriendly.
We like to sit outside, especially during cool breeze days.
We ordered a veggie sushi and a vegetarian bento box. The food was nice and flavorful. Service only to bring or remove plates from your table.
It is a nice way of finishing your visit.

After paying for your admission to the gardens, you go through the sliding double doors and the restaurant is to your right. You look at the menu and decide what you want, order and pay at the counter and choose your seat, they bring the food to you. Very peaceful setting. Prices are reasonable. I am sure in the warmer months things can get hot. My aunt and I both got the teriyaki salmon and it was quite delicious. Everything was so fresh.

This is an oasis of reprieve after a long journey through a hot humid garden. Your lips will touch the cold beverage of choice (I highly recommend the iced green tea) and you can snack on a small ice cream as well.

We didn’t partake or eat a full meal, but the air conditioning after a significant walk around the Japanese garden felt almost heavenly.

There was a bit of confusion with my transaction, as the person taking my order completely dropped the ball and forgot half of it, but it was quickly cleared up. This is also one of the few locations I have ever seen tiny Hagen Daz containers.

Great little cafe at the end of the walk!
