Well executed French bistro cooking. Most plates are medium-sized. The homemade tagliatelle with a meat sauce that tastes like chicken paté is awesome.

A wish fulfilled!
Refined ambiance with the just amount of lighting to set up the mood but at least three tables could be eliminated so diners could have a little more breathing room and that overloaded coat hanger by the entrance is a sore sight. Not sure what the solution could be, but on the winter night I dined here it looked like a mountain of rags ready to be shipped off to the needy.

Friendly staff, and though I never felt neglected, towards the end of the night my lovely server was missing in action causing in me some mild abandonment issues.

Oh, so the food reigned supreme:
1. Artichoke soup- so glad it did not use any dairy and used stock instead – which made it lighter and savory, and that foie grass in the center, submerged under finely chopped chives, just a catch. Speaking of catches where was the charger plate, that is always under the soup bowl to catch unintentional spills? And a place to rest the spoon? Not in sight. If Zimmi’s has swank aspirations this oversight to me was a faux pas.

2. I was pleasantly surprised to see merguez offered as a main dish and when the server emphasized that these lamb sausages are home made, I was won over. Accompanied by a light parsley salad with slices of fennel it offered a wonderful citrusy contrast. The mustard was top quality. The french fries felt a little too soggy, but that did not deter me from trying some.
No room for dessert or for major complaints.

All I can say is disappointing experience.
The interior is cozy until it gets super crowded because the spacing between tables is impossible for anyone to go through, so one has to pull out the entire table to sit. And it got super loud as well.
The food is mediocre I have to say. The portion is small compared to the price.. so it’s definitely overpriced.
Service is friendly in the beginning and got worse towards the end when they rushed us out.

This is a well-appreciated contribution to the West Village dining scene, adding some French cuisine to a largely Italian-focused neighborhood. Tables are tightly packed together which on one hand makes for a cosy date vibe but can also get annoying as tables are moved frequently to shuffle people in. Food is good but not consistent between dishes – the pissaladiere was overly salty but the tagliatelle was very good. Desserts were also very good.

I came here for dinner one day and had a good time with my friend! Located in the west village, this French restaurant is bright, quaint, and both casual and romantic. Service was good as well.

My friend and I got their pesto pasta and special chicken dish of the day. I absolutely loved their pesto pasta and would highly recommend. For their chicken, I thought that it was pretty good and loved the vegetables it came with, but thought that it was a bit too salty. Overall, not a bad spot for French cuisine.

A cosy spot with great lighting and a touch of European charm. The food is excellent, with a strong wine list to match. The oysters and foie gras toast are a must, and the desserts are truly impressive. The pasta is rustic but enjoyable. Sitting at the bar makes for a great experience.

Cozy, intimate, and delicious. The dishes are superb and the wine list is extensive; the perfect place to celebrate an occasion or indulge yourself. Be sure to get a reservation well in advance, though!

Amazing!!!! My new fav restaurant. Beautiful interior design – but even better food. The citrus salad was unreal. The drinks were even better!! It’s going to be hard for me to not want to plan every dinner here

Zimmi’s was a perfect experience. From the intimate setting, fantastic wine, excellent bartender, and of course, a brilliant menu with each dish being as superb as the next, I would come back to Zimmi’s in an instant.

P.S. -the one star reviews are completely unjust

As others have noted, it’s hard to talk about the experience without starting with the noise level. It was so loud, it was headache inducing. It was hard to hear someone sitting next to you. The cute aesthetics do absolutely nothing to dampen the noise. Hard walls/ceiling, tall windows, dainty curtains, glass pendants; all in a very small space.

Our group got the prix fixe menu which was heavy on quality veggies but maybe simple to a fault. The summer squash was the only standout.

Next were the pastas which were the best thing we had all night. The mains were a seared white fish and pork belly. Both were fine but nothing noteworthy. Same with the desserts.

All in all, it felt light on quantity and imagination for the price.
