From start to finish, this dining experience was exceptional. The food was both creative and delicious, showcasing thoughtful combinations and bold flavors that really pushed the envelope in all the right ways. Each dish felt carefully curated, with ingredients that complemented one another beautifully — surprising without ever feeling overcomplicated. You can tell the chef isn’t afraid to experiment, yet everything remains approachable and well-balanced.

The presentation was stunning too — vibrant colors, unique plating, and a clear attention to detail that made every course feel special. While I do wish there had been a larger roll selection, what they did offer was executed with precision and freshness. Every bite was memorable, and it left me genuinely excited to come back and see what new ideas they come up with next.

The service was another highlight. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, knowledgeable, and attentive without being intrusive. Water glasses were always full, timing between courses was perfect, and the entire meal flowed effortlessly. The food came out promptly, and there was a calm rhythm to the pacing that made the evening feel relaxed and enjoyable.

Overall, a truly wonderful experience — inventive, flavorful, and thoughtfully delivered from start to finish.

We were able to get in with no reservations right before the dinner rush. The interior is very nice and intimate.

The service was very good and our server took care of us very well! All of the nigiri we ordered was top notch and their entrees were delicious! I recommend the matcha ice cream for dessert as the matcha is premium grade.

The fish quality is consistently high, with each piece carrying clean, bright flavors that make even simple cuts feel memorable. Their nigiri has that ideal rice-to-fish ratio—lightly seasoned shari that holds its shape yet melts just enough as you eat it. Specialty rolls are creative without being heavy, showcasing well-paired sauces and textures rather than overwhelming the fish. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, and the service feels genuinely attentive, adding to the overall ease of the meal. It’s the kind of spot where you walk out feeling you got both quality and comfort.

The atmosphere as nice and romantic. A little pricey but the quality of their food is amazing! Some of the flavors were a little too interesting for my palette like their jellies. Service was ok, they only had one server who was taking a break most of the time we were there so the sushi chef has to service us. But overall a nice experience. If we were to come back we would get a bunch of nigiri since that is what we liked the most.

For me I thought it was the preferred sushi place among others like Soichi, Tadokoro and Ota. We had the lunch options. Sashimi were tasty a little bit small but great. The wasabi not being paste was definitely a plus. The rolls were great too. They said they have Omakase on Monday thru Thursday with 24h advance reservations.

I do not have the words to describe this incredible food experience. The fish was so fresh but Chef Peter’s attention to detail and flavor profiles are insane. He is truly a magician. We started off with the edamame and miso soup which came with salmon, a unique touch but the best miso soup I’ve ever had. We then had the ceviche, my favorite meal of the night. It came with the most delicious baguette it almost made me cry. We both got the La Jolla roll (so good) and when we didn’t want it to end we got the wagyu special, topped with caviar. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough; I contemplated moving to San Diego just for this. Thank you Chef Peter, can’t wait to come back!

Screaming fresh fish with innovative sauce and beautiful presentation. Highlight meal.

We loved everything we ordered from:
Takara miso soup with fresh salmon and truffle oil
Hirame special with lemon zest
Gravlax salmon with wasabi pesto
Ahi Fiesta roll with crunchy onion
Salmon Oshi roll with ponzu jelly
Unagi nigiri (best I have ever had)
Fatty tuna nigiri (just melted..)

Other exceptional nigiri, bluefin tuna, bluefin tuna belly, salmon, hamachi, tamago.

Finished off with their Yuzu cheesecake.

Heard great things about their matcha affogato ice cream (hot concentrated matcha syrup but too much caffeine for us. Maybe an excuse to come for lunch ).

I only was able to take 1 pic because my family ate the rest of the food before I could take a pic. So good that food was disappearing.

Very nice Japanese restaurant serving wonderful dishes.

The place is relatively new, in the not-so-busy part of La Jolla Village. On our Sunday visit at lunch time, it’s not crowded. The front is wide open, letting in the fresh ocean air from the shore not far down the street. The traffic noise also got in and the place is a little less refined as it could be.

Service is very nice. The dishes we got, from miso soup, uni pasta, to the Hoseki “make your own sushi” plate were all excellent. You can tell the quality of ingredients and the chef’s skills in every bite.

My wife and I found this place by accident because we were craving sushi and now it is easily my favorite sushi place in San Diego.

Get the Salmon Baguette, Cucumber Salad, and Unagi Sashimi for sure but its between the La Jolla Roll and the Salmon Oshi for the rolls.

10/10. Will recommend to everyone
