Enjoyed my dinner here! Got tamales (definitely go for the mole tamale), empanadas, tacos, salad and breakfast burrito.

Service was good and staff was friendly! Received a complimentary pastry – special touch!

Want to try more of the proteins as well as the breakfast items (they serve all day).

I stopped by LA MIXTEGA Tamale House and tried their spicy chicken tamales of cause they were absolutely delicious! The flavor was on point and the texture was perfect, even though they weren’t quite as spicy as I expected. The prices are very reasonable, and the service was quick and friendly. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more from their menu. Highly recommend this spot if you’re craving authentic, flavorful tamales!

I’ve hesitated to come dine in because they are still fairly new, but with the holidays approaching I needed to find the best tamales in Atlanta. This place is it! Eleven flavors daily first come first serve.. no one in the city can even claim 3 flavors daily.
Also, they celebrate Day of the Dead so that’s one key indicator that they not only serve REAL Mexican food but observe & preserve the traditions of Mexico as well.
The decor was very tasteful not tacky and very beautiful. You can tell the owners dedicated time and passion into this holiday.
Back to the food, the tamales were sooo good and the tacos with hand made tortillas were fresh. The menu is actually very big and will take time to try everything. The servers were amazing, Hailey and Yari were super nice and attentive. I think what I appreciated the most is when a manager takes the time to visit a guests table and introduce themselves and checks up on you. I got to meet the manager and learned so much about the history of La Mixteca. I’m proud to support a local family business.
Last, I’m excited for the breakfast menu. No one else on Chattahoochee Ave is open at 6am serving hot breakfast. We are so lucky to have such a good Mexican restaurant in our area given the high closures we’ve had recently & prices are pretty cheap and average compared to Chicheria & Palo Santo.

The location may seem bland, but the food is anything but. Every taco we tried was a knockout—fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The corn tortillas deserve their own spotlight: warm, slightly smoky, and sturdy enough to hold all the goodness without falling apart. They elevated every bite.

And let’s talk about that cilantro jalapeño sauce. Straight fire! It’s the kind of magic that works on everything—tacos, sides, even the chips. Bright, spicy, and addictive in the best way. I’d take home a bottle if they sold them.

Don’t let the exterior fool you—this spot is a hidden gem for taco lovers who know that great flavor doesn’t need flashy decor.

Tamales were delicious! We got the spicy green chicken and birria. Their cucumber lime agua fresca was so refreshing! Service was great, plenty of parking. Def a new go to spot for some fire Mexican food in the West Midtown area

The menu is surprisingly thorough so make sure you look at the entrees on the back of the menu. Food is flavorful and fast. Love tha tamales and carne asada (note that the tamales are not drenched in any sauce, it is mixed lightly inside the tamale). Also had the empanadas and birria tacos (very good)! Tried the churros and they were some of the best I’ve had in Atlanta. Prices are reasonable and I’d say this is an easy walk in spot to not be disappointed.

This place is amazing! Valentino told us the history and how they created the restaurant in honor of their mom’s indigenous Mexican heritage. The service was perfect and kind… comparable to a 5 star hotel. The food is oh so fresh and clean. We will be back!!

Everything we had here was delicious! We ordered multiple tamales and tacos. Our favorites were the mole tamale and the al pastor taco. Rice and beans are perfectly seasoned. The cucumber lime agua fresca is the best I’ve had and the churros are great. Can’t wait to try more of the menu! Our waitress, Yaricel, was very sweet.

this place makes me feel like I’m in Mexico eating at my grandma’s kitchen. Thank you to the staff and young man in the front who greets you so kindly and with a warm hello. Will be returning. I brought some tamales for my coworkers today- they loved.

La Mixteca is an absolute gem on the west side of Atlanta. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere every time I visit—it’s welcoming, relaxed, and feels authentic without trying too hard. The food is consistently fresh and genuinely authentic, which is hard to find at this price point.

Hands down, these are the best tacos and tamales on the west side for the value. Everything tastes homemade, flavorful, and prepared with care. If you’re looking for great Mexican food without the hype or inflated prices, La Mixteca is a must.
