$16.99 for Carne Asada and half of it was fat.
A Gentlemen set me, same gentlemen got my drink he was vey friendly.
Waitress named Vicky took my order and brought me my food and brought me the bill. She never once came back and checked on me. The service in this establishment is subpar at very best and the food has become disgusting, when this place first open it was really good, but it has gone downhill.
However, out waiter was not good at all. He never looked at me, and would ask a question very quickly, (I can’t hardly understand him) as he’s walking away. My husband had to track him down to add a drink and an appetizer since he didn’t stay long enough for the whole order. He’s young, tall, and has black hair. They claim they only have 3 waiters. I have no idea how many is at full staff. But there were 5 tables probably, so nothing to cause such a horrible behavior from this waiter. There wasn’t any respect for us. We’ve been a couple months ago as well, and we had a similar bad experience with a woman waitress. I’ve never had such bad service. I’m always a great tipper and nice to everyone. But I’m not going to tip when it ruined a nice lunch date.
Horrible wait staff.
Wonderful food.
I wouldn’t recommend.
When the food came, the kids’ meals were shockingly small — literally half a chicken tender and a small handful of fries. The food itself was fine, but nothing special.
The real issue came when I got the bill. There was an extra $2 charge for my 15-year-old’s kids meal. When I asked why, the server said it was because she’s over 12 years old. I asked if that meant she was supposed to get more food for the extra charge — she wasn’t. The portions were identical. The manager came over and said, “That’s just what the owner says to do.”
This isn’t about the $2 — it’s about integrity. You can’t justify charging customers extra just because of age when nothing additional is provided. That’s not good business, it’s deceptive. When I went to pay, the cashier even argued with me about the difference between a “child” and a “teenager,” missing the entire point.
This experience left a bad taste in my mouth, not because of the food, but because of the principle. If a restaurant can’t be transparent and honest with something as small as a kids meal, what does that say about the rest of their practices? There are plenty of great Mexican restaurants nearby that value their customers — I suggest supporting those instead.
We were greeted and served by a pleasant and attentive gentleman named Rueben. We sat in the cozy bar section, where the seating is unassigned, and you can sit where you please. For those who remember the bar from Buckingham’s, they did an excellent job of preserving it while adding their unique theme to this section of the restaurant.
For starters, they served us complimentary chips and cantina-style salsa. The Chips were crispy, not soggy, and the salsa was freshly made with a good balance of heat. The 16oz frozen strawberry margarita was exceptional value at $6.50, and it was perfectly blended with a generous but not overpowering amount of tequila.
We ordered a couple of crunchy taco shells with a combination of beef and shredded chicken, which came with rice and beans. The tacos had a nice crunch, and the shredded chicken was cooked to perfection, with a nice balance of cheese and lettuce. The beef version was equally as good. We also ordered a taco salad bowl with shredded chicken, fresh pico, lettuce, guacamole, and cheese. All the food was well balanced, with generous portions that went down easy. The rice was light and fluffy, and the main dishes were not oversaturated or soggy from drowning in oils or sauces.
What makes this location stand out? I always appreciated this venue when it was a Buckingham’s. Thankfully, it is now occupied by an established local Mexican chain that offers friendly, attentive service at a fair price in a clean and pleasant atmosphere.
In case you are wondering. The restaurant’s opening was delayed because they could not find enough quality workers. Most of their staff rotate between the other locations, so you may see some familiar faces!
I highly recommend trying them out. We will definitely be back!!
