We stumbled on this cute restaurant in Spirit Lake. We liked the sidewalk tables and flowers, but it was too hot to sit outside, so we went in and enjoyed the AC. The decor is a fun but tasteful, Western theme, lots of wood panelling. The lunch/dinner menu is simple and elegantly fits all on one page, but with enough choice for our family to each find something we liked. The menu offers standard American fare like chicken strips, burgers and beef dip, but also specialty dishes like the Lime Crema salad and home smoked pulled pork. Each night features a speciality dish and tonight was spaghetti with homemade meatballs.
I was intrigued by the Lime Crema salad which included the shredded pulled pork, crisp tortilla chips, olives and corn. The greens were very fresh and crisp and the lime crema dressing was light and refreshing-just what I wanted on such a hot day. My husband enjoyed the pulled pork sandwich that came on a brioche bun with fries and slaw. We washed it down with huckleberry lemonade. The kids, being generally fussy and suspicious of new foods, had the chicken strips, served with fries and slaw. Although we didn’t opt for the spaghetti and meatballs, we overheard a guest at a neighboring table exclaim at how good it was.
The portions were large, the food was tasty and the service fast, friendly and attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would stop again if passing through Spirit Lake.

The hubs and I LOVE this place! The food is amazing and the atmosphere is perfect! The owner, Nancy, is super friendly and visits guests at their tables to say HI! and to ask how you are enjoying your meal. She will ask for feedback and ideas for ways to improve the dishes. She genuinely wants her guests to leave happy! For our most recent visit, my husband ordered the pork special this was at the end of October. It was oh so good (I usually don’t love pork and I would’ve ordered it) and I had the shrimp and grits…very good too (had to refrain from licking the bowl). The dining room is not large so be prepared for a possible wait, I promise you won’t be disappointed!

I’ve been here three times now. The servers are always very positive and efficient, and the food is always wonderful. We’ve always been seated right away, and the wait time for food is short. I’ve tried two of their burgers and one of their sandwiches, and I have nothing but compliments. Our first server promised us the best bacon we’ve had, and they certainly delivered! This place has become my new spot to meet up with friends or go out on a date!

Had a wonderful meal and experience at Salt & Pepper on Friday night. I was on a solo motorcyle trip and therefore sat solo at my table and was able to observe the dynamics of the restaurant. What a wonderful vibe! The place was very busy, the staff were exceptional and working hard, but they always made time to chat and they treated everyone like friends and family. Service was excellent, quick, accurate and efficient. Menu variety was great and from what I understand is always growing. The decor is very cool, well designed and super clean. I had planned to return the next morning for breakfast, but due to the logistics of my trip home I had to depart Spirit Lake before 7:00 am which is when they opened for breakfast 🙁
