I went for my birthday dinner and it was so good! The service was amazing, food was delicious and the atmosphere was the best. It was a perfect way to celebrate a birthday! I highly recommend doing the experience at the chefs table. You get an interactive culinary experience! Was so good. Great work to them and their team, they deserve it.

Went here for valentines day, after watching and following the story via social media for months and this place did not disappoint food was unique and creative yet approachable. The seating is comfortable and the space itself is cozy, inviting and takes you out of Grand Rapids for a moment. The most impressive thing is the staff while the food was amazing the staff just went above and beyond to make sure things were great. Ben and Madeline took care of everything we needed, while chef Trimell and Jaysin seemed to have an alluring passion when they spoke about the food and space itself. The first bite we ate wasn’t on the menu but is definitely a bite that needs to be talked about it was so delicious and done so well goat cheese and beets done multiple ways, and I’m not normally a beet guy but these guys made me a believer. The loster and grits all I can say is wow…. I honestly mean it when I say this but every dish seemed to build and just be perfect it was so hard to decide a favorite me and my wife debated on the car ride home and we kept reminding eachother of another dish that was worthy until we agreed that the menu itself was just that dang good. Bravo Trust and Trust team for bringing life back into the Grand Rapids food scene this is much needed. WE WILL BE BACK!!!!!

PS. The music Playlist incredible every song had us intrigued and captivated it was incredible we left wanting to go dancing which we haven’t done in years. We asked for the Playlist but Ben said it was top secret lol which I don’t blame them.

My first experience with dining at Trust was on their debut night for NYE. The meal was setup as a multi-course experience that we opted to pair with wine. The food was impeccable, with great taste, presentation, portion size, and creativity. It was a real dining experience and not just a dinner out. It was great to have Chef Trimmell stop by the table to share more about his creations and to ensure our satisfaction. The restaurant ambiance is moody, comfortable, and fits very well for intimate gatherings. I always judge a restaurant by their bathroom, and this one did not disappoint! The design matched the overall vibe, the cleanliness was top tier, and I loved the cotton hand towel as a high-end touch.

It is very exciting to see what Chef Trimmell is creating here in Grand Rapids, a city ready for an innovative and elevated dining experience! I look forward to many meals here in the future!

My first experience at Trust was 2/14/26 for a Valentine’s Day collab with Tellers.

After my initial experience at Trust GR, I was contacted personally by Trimell. He was incredibly intentional and sincere about how our first visit went and what he truly hopes every guest experiences when they walk through his doors. That meant a lot.

He invited us back for an intimate dinner at his establishment, and this time we were able to fully experience the space — touring the restaurant, viewing all its attributes, stepping into the kitchen, taking photos, and truly immersing ourselves in what Trust is all about.

From the moment we arrived, everything felt different. We were warmly greeted by the hostess and seated at a beautifully set table with our names handwritten on envelopes that held the evening’s menu — such a thoughtful touch. The ambiance was stunning, the bathroom smelled amazing and was immaculate (which I always notice), and the energy in the room felt welcoming and elevated.

The chef personally came to our table, explained what our experience would look like for the evening, asked about allergies, brought out wine, and essentially guided us through what felt like a flavorful journey. Every bite was perfectly curated and intentionally paired with a drink. The champagne and wine flowed all night, and we truly loved everything.

If I had to choose favorites, it would absolutely be the soup of the night and the main course — the Wagyu was phenomenal.

The miso playlist was soooo good — we smiled and laughed all night listening to a mix of old and new favorites. It added so much to the ambiance.

What impressed me most was the passion. The way the chef explained each plate and returned to ask our thoughts showed true care for his craft and his guests. That level of attentiveness does not go unnoticed.

I’m genuinely happy we came back to Trust. This experience was everything it should have been and more. Thank you, Trimell, for your intention and for creating such a beautiful dining experience for us. We loved every minute of the night and can’t wait to return.

**UPDATE AT BOTTOM**

I visited for the valentine’s day 2026 pop-up(ish) dinner on the adjacent Tellers Lounge space, with whom Trust/Chef Trimell Hawkins had partnered for the event. I had a 8p reservation (5:30 & 8p sittings) for a pre-planned tasting menu (7 small plates) – we weren’t seated until 9 and we had the first course around 9:30p. I have to say, the chef definitely has talent but what would have otherwise been a rough soft opening made for a poorly executed holiday event. I was taking it in stride chatting with other patrons and enjoying the space until about 10:30 we finally received the 3rd course – we were each given a different tasting dish (pictured – salad and other clover-covered dish) and it seemed implied that we were supposed to split them or pick who would get each one?? Total head-scratcher.

I was so excited to visit this new establishment since I first learned about them in fall 2025 but tonight was a disappointment, we paid nearly $400 for the two of us for dinner and a couple of glasses of wine each to leave after 11p with an incomplete meal, telling them we hope to come back some other time after they work out the kinks. Most menu items were never explained as they came to the table, loose silverware handed to us randomly at the start as if we were in a cafeteria – I’m not that fussy but there seemed to be little intention or organization. Halfway through the meal I finally asked what we were eating that course – the server (very friendly staff btw, flustered but very kind) opened the envelopes on the table with our names on them to retrieve what apparently should have been menus for the evening to find they were empty (we had been wondering what they were intended for). There were no similar menus or envelopes to be seen on anyone else’s tables. Music was great, awesome 90’s R&B, what food was delivered was super tasty, kind of cozy vibe inside but I could eat a kings ransom nearly ANYWHERE IN GR for $400. I’d probably never gamble that much money on a startup like this again – it was a sizable investment on my part for a special evening and a disappointment. I know they’re new and that comes with risk – I want new restaurants & businesses to thrive downtown especially on Division but damn I feel like I gambled and lost on this one. Glad to narrowly have enough disposable income to cringe & laugh about this one but I hope it gets better – I know there’s no way they would say this is what they hoped to achieve. I look forward to giving them another chance if they make it but feel obliged to post this experience.

UPDATE: Chef Trimell Hawkins personally called right away to address our experience and resolved it to my satisfaction. I have a lot of respect for how forthcoming he was and look forward to visiting Trust again when they’re fully up and operating. I hope to see great things from Chef Hawkins & team in the future. I’m happy to scratch this review & re-write at that time (I don’t think google allows repeat reviews of the same establishment).

Trust is an incredibly beautiful space with stunning decor and ambiance. The chef is incredible, best chicken wings i’ve ever had in my entire life. On top of that he’s incredibly kind and professional. Trust deserves all the respect and admiration. If you are in the area, I would highly recommend visiting for an unforgettable experience!!! 10/10

I’ve had the pleasure of visiting Trust a few times for their holiday events partnered with Teller’s Lounge next door. Each experience has been incredible. The space is absolutely beautiful and creates such a warm, intimate atmosphere. From the moment you walk in, it feels truly special and thoughtfully designed. Every detail is intentional in the space, the service, and of course, the food.

Chef Trimell is truly a master of his craft. His talent and artistry are evident in every dish. It was easy to see his genuine enthusiasm, especially when chatting with him at the chef’s table. His staff were exceptional as well and their energy contributed so much to the experience. Trust has quickly become my favorite new restaurant in Grand Rapids, and I cannot recommend it enough.

Came here to celebrate a birthday and it was one of the coolest dining experiences we ever had. When we walked in everything felt elevated and special. Watching the chef prepare, describe and present each course was super fun and amazing! We opted in for the wine pairing and was definitely worth it. Each course was seriously amazing- incredible flavor, beautiful presentation and top tier quality! The service was also amazing, attentive and knowledgeable! Highly recommend!

My husband and I had a very poor experience. After making a reservation, we still stood for 45 minutes with nowhere to sit that wasn’t in the way of other diners or staff.

When we were finally seated, our table had no silverware or napkins, and the tablecloth had visible food stains from the previous seating. Throughout the evening, we had very little interaction with our server.

I reached out directly via email to discuss our experience and never received a response. I wanted to give them the chance to make it right privately before leaving this review, but their silence speaks volumes.

I hope they get their operations sorted out, because the food itself has potential. But I can’t recommend gambling this kind of money on an experience like this.
