This place is everything that a Classic American Town cafe should be!
My party and I were treated to House Battered Cheese Curds compliments of the Owner! (One of the members of my party doesn’t like cheese.) Family run, generous portions with clean and honest flavors.
Hamburgers looked delicious and perfectly cooked. My Grilled Chicken Sandwich was tender (not overcooked!!), Had the perfect amount of seasoning and didn’t disappoint. Fries have a crispy coating on them – my favorite type of fries. I’m not sure you could pick a bad item, though.
From the moment we sat down until we left, we were showered with genuine hospitality. When we left, I knew I had found one of the best kept secrets slightly off 29.
Thank you to all the staff that keep The Dairy Bar Cafe a must for me whenever I’m near Thorpe.

All food is homemade and delicious. We had a soup-sandwich pie combination, and it was all delicious. The owner/server was extremely kind and personable. She mentioned it was her mom’s birthday and I said it was my son’s as well-she brought him a piece of homemade cake! Can’t recommend enough. We will be back.

Service was Great! Coffee was refilled as often as possible. The biscuits and gravy did leave much to be desired. The biscuits where heavy, and the gravy was choppy, a large portion of the plate was gravy and only 2 biscuits cut in half’s where included. On a second breakfast I got the pancakes and they surpassed anything I’ve had at a little diner for pancakes. They where very generous on the size of the pancakes and for the price charged it’s a really great deal! over all clean, but could use some work done on the seats, small tears and stain spots that I don’t think will come out.

Very cozy old-fashioned cafe. When entering it’s like going back in time into the Heyday of cafes. This Cafe does not disappoint. From the old fashioned ice cream Fountain drinks, to their food.. we stopped in on a Friday to have a fish fry. But saw the burgers coming out to customers and never did find out if they had a fish fry. We both had burgers and french fries and I can say it was one of the better Burgers I’ve had in a long time. The waitress was very friendly and talkative and not in that annoying way. Will definitely be going back again to try out their breakfast. If you get a chance stop in,don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

If you’re looking for a great family atmosphere, delicious old home comfort food, or just a great cup of coffee, in a nostalgic restored vintage decor, then this is the place for you! It’s family owned and staffed and you can tell they care about what they serve. Also, the best hand battered deep fried cheese curds around!! A true taste of Wisconsin experience!

What a great place to stop and get an old fashioned chocolate malt! Now months later, I have to change it. We drove by it on Friday night, it was late so they were closed. On Sunday morning we stopped in for breakfast and a chocolate malt. Was waited on by a teenager and his younger brother, who’s s task it was to make my malt.
When I ordered it I told him I wanted a very thick, a few minutes later as I was heading to the bathroom I stopped for a second as they were making it and mentioned in passing they don’t have to stir it very much. When it arrived it did not taste like a chocolate malt, and it was only slightly thicker and chocolate milk. Only slightly. When the older one stop to see how I was I pulled the spoon out of it without a word showed it running off the spoon , To which he rolled his eyes and pointed at his brother and said he made it. I’m only writing this here because I didn’t want to make a scene in the restaurant over a chocolate malt with a couple of young kids. But it was not what I ordered. And shouldn’t have paid for it. What he should’ve done was replace it. Would only have cost them the ingredients to make one, but his reaction drove me to write a review like this and lose us as customers and possibly one or two more, so now the cost is quite higher. If you’re going to put your kids behind the counter, I need to at least pay attention to what they’re doing, or train them to do it right.

If you like a nice, warm, greasy breakfast, this place is for you! I do enjoy the 50s aesthetic and appreciate the history this place has. On the other hand, it could benefit from some updates to give it a cleaner feel.
