Let me give you context…I’m a southern born and raised New Yorker so when it comes to soul food, that’s what I grew up on every single day and every single meal. So my expectations are high, HOWEVER I understand that sometimes soul food from a restaurant might be a hit/miss and I give grace for that. But what doesn’t get grace is food that looks like it’s been out for days, food that looks like it isn’t prepared fresh, food that looks like it was just thrown together and that’s what I saw at this restaurant.
I googled “soul food in Miami” and this location was the first to pop up so I decided to give them a try. They greet you with the most unenthused “Welcome Home”….ooooook.
Needless to say, I didn’t buy anything given the presentation and the location just didn’t look “kept”. It didn’t look good. And if I’m going to spend my hard earned money, I require quality!
Don’t waste your time, I doubt the food will look better UNLESS you call and asked them if it’s freshly cooked on the day you’re going! Otherwise, I promise you’ll be disappointed!
Ohhhh and they open at 11am and I went at 2pm, 3 hours after they open and this is what the food looked like.

This restaurant is beyond Legit! Nothing else needs to be said. I wanted soul food and that is exactly what I got! The food is absolutely delicious and is an absolute culinary gem that has stolen my heart and satisfied my soul. From the succulent fried chicken to the perfectly seasoned smothered pork chops and the mouthwatering collard greens, every bite was a revelation of soulful goodness. Trust me, no matter what you get, you will be happy and satisfied.
I ordered from them twice this week from doordash. Both times the food over preformed and exceeded my expectations. I had to personally call the restaurant myself to praise them for their amazingly delicious food. This restaurant is simply amazing, earning it a well-deserved 5-star rating.

I ordered from here on Door Dash. I had catfish, Mac and Cheese, Green Beans and Banana Pudding. The pudding was a little too sweet for me, but everything else was great. I got a lot of food for what I paid for and I’ll be ordering again soon.

Based on a street review I heard through word of mouth, there were mixed opinions about this place. Despite the negative comments, I decided to check it out for myself. It was my first time visiting, and overall, the experience was satisfactory. On a pleasant Sunday, I wanted to treat my wife after her long week, so I decided to skip cooking and order some delicious soul food.
The fried pork chops were quite tasty, although I personally felt that they were excessively thick. My grandmother had a bit of trouble eating them due to their size. Also the candyvyams to sweet,On the other hand, the fried corn was spot-on, perfectly cooked and flavorful. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the Mac and cheese, which didn’t meet my expectations. The cabbage was alright, nothing extraordinary. I also expected it to come with cornbread, but it seems like that might be available at another spot.
Now, when it comes to the yellow rice, it was decent, but not outstanding. I’ve given this place a few chances, and I must say, it’s hit or miss. Considering the amount of money I spent, I expected the food to be of higher quality, especially since it’s supposed to represent my people’s cuisine. On a scale of 1 to 10, I would give them a 5.
Oh, and let’s not forget about the drinks. They were quite tasty, but overly sweet. I had to dilute them with some water to balance out the flavors.
Overall, my experience at this place was average. While they had some delicious dishes, there were also some disappointments. It’s definitely not top-tier soul food, but it’s worth a try if you’re in the mood for a casual meal.

First off they tell you WELCOME HOME every time you enter the store. The gentleman with the bike chain on was one of the KINDEST people I’ve met on my trip to Miami. He gave me pound cake and banana pudding on the house and when I TELL YOU ITS THE BEST POUNDCAKE I’ve ever had and the chicken is freshly fried in front of you. Love you guys thank you for the positive experience

This place is a hidden gem. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a ‘hello, welcome home’ which I thought was nice. I ordered the catfish with yellow rice, corn and mac & cheese with a lunch box of fried chicken wings. Everything was delicious and the portions were good. The wings were big, juicy and crispy with good flavor, they must brine them overnight. The catfish and rice with some hot sauce was amazing. Overall a great, clean place with a very friendly staff. The only knock is they do not take phone orders, you have to use Doordash if you want to order ahead and have it ready for pickup, that convenience would have added an additional $6-7 to my order so I chose to order at the counter and wait for my food. It’s not always true, but in this case good things come to this who wait.

Service was good .The atmosphere was cool and inviting. Also food was good but the yams was kinda sweet I like the flavors very well put together. But way to sweet. Also the baked chicken leg and thigh was kinda small for $14.00 dollars.

Mr. Jack’s Soul Food On The Go is a excellent soul food spot that never disappoints. On my recent visit on September 20th, I ate my favorite: their tender, juicy short rib of beef, served over white rice with extra gravy. The collard greens and black-eyed peas were perfect, and the mac and cheese was like eating Thanksgiving dinner. And of course, there five-pound cake dessert was really good
The folks there are incredibly warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home. This will always be my go to Soul food spot

I came to Miami for a much needed vacation and decided to try out Mr. Jack’s Soul On the Go. I was not disappointed. I went back three times!! Each meal better than what I had expected. The friendliness of the staff, the Southern hospitality sure made me feel like I was “home”.

I visited the restaurant today for the first time. The customer service is amazing. However the food didn’t meet my expectations. I ordered Catfish, cabbage, yellowrice, cornbread and macaroni. The food looked delicious, however I was disappointed with the taste. The Catfish had no seasonings, and was undercooked in my opinion. It didn’t taste authentic in my opinion, the meat had a weird texture. The Mac and cheese was ok. The rice, nothing special. Cornbread is was good. Cabbage was nothing special, just ok. I paid $41.00 for two dinners. I expected way better tasting food for the price I paid. I didn’t finish it all and threw majority of it away.
