We started off with some oysters and the bone marrow as appetizers. The oysters were super fresh and absolutely delicious with all the different toppings. I really like the house-made hot sauce on top! The bone marrow was also good but I felt like we didn’t really get much of the actually bone marrow. For our mains, we both got steaks and a side of fried for us to share. I thought that they’d plate the fries so it was odd to see our food come out with a steak and a single pickle-LOL. This didn’t make a difference and we were still able to enjoy our food. We still had room for desert, but wanted to go home, so we got the cheesecake to go. I forgot to take a picture of it because we gobbled it up too quickly. It was one of the best deserts I’ve ever had in a while!
The service was also great! I can’t remember the name of our server but she was really nice. She always made sure our water was filled and that we had everything we needed, which we greatly appreciated. The atmosphere is also very intimate. I love the low lights—perfect for a romantic dinner!
Had a great time overall and I’d love to come back again!
As for the food, the Nova Scotia oysters were incredibly fresh and delicious, and the Wagyu steak was simply perfectly cooked and full of flavour but I find the steak’s portions a little small and pricy. The lamb shank, however, was a bit underwhelming as it was not well marinated and cooked. Thumbs down for it. Overall, it was a good dinning experience for special occasions like Christmas time and so on.
I’ll definitely be back for the food — the steak was cooked to perfection — but what truly sets this place apart is the service. From the moment we walked in, the service was top notch. The staff is warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about what they do.
It’s rare to find a restaurant that nails both the food and the hospitality at this level. A new favorite in Ottawa — highly recommend!
My second visit was to celebrate Mother’s Day and the staff went above and beyond to make our visit special.
Will absolutely be back. Love the atmosphere so much. Can’t wait to try their burger patio on my next visit.
I took my husband here for his birthday dinner, expecting a special evening, and it was almost comical how bad it turned out to be.
We ordered oysters (which were actually very good), but the presentation was awful — no small forks, no side plates, barely any horseradish, and it just felt careless for a steakhouse that positions itself as upscale.
The burrata appetizer was completely lacking flavour and was served with cold, burnt toast. Not slightly overdone — actually burnt and cold.
The biggest letdown was the $90 steak. It was nowhere near the quality we get from Costco at home. For that price point, expectations are high, and this missed the mark entirely. The chimichurri was flavourless and did nothing to elevate it. The Brussels sprouts were so heavily drenched in garlic sauce that I literally choked on my first bite.
The atmosphere is bizarre. It’s SO dark you can barely see your food, the music was far too loud for conversation, and the room was freezing. They had mini space heaters scattered around trying to warm the place up, which just added to the awkward vibe.
The servers were friendly enough, but despite the restaurant being almost empty, we waited far too long between courses and again for the bill.
Overall, we left feeling completely duped. This was supposed to be a birthday dinner, and instead it was a very expensive disappointment. I truly don’t understand how this place has such glowing reviews.
