I asked for my wings 2x crispy, and they did exactly that. The lemon pepper wings were TOP TIER!! definitely my favorite. The flavor was on point and seasoned just right.
The restaurant itself was very clean, and everything tasted fresh. It was actually my first time trying gumbo, and they unexpectedly brought me a sample to the table. It was so good and fresh — such a thoughtful touch!
This may have been my first time here, but it definitely won’t be my last. I already love this place! Also, Mary is the best! so sweet, thank you for welcoming us! <3
Along with mango habañero wings, I got the salmon and chicken hibachi which had plenty of veggies and a nice teriyaki glaze. We also tried the catfish, which was very crispy – definitely the best I have ever had!
The service was quick and friendly, and the establishment was clean. I highly recommend eating here!
We are OBSESSED with both the hot garlic wings, the honey hot garlic wings, their fried rice (which has lots of veggie and egg in it), fries, and their peach drink!
What makes this place is the owners actually care about the quality of their food and making the customer feel welcomed, every time we’ve come they’ve always taken the time to talk to us and make conversation, and their care of the business is super apparent.
The garlic wings have actual minced garlic that they cook so you get REAL garlic flavor, they are easily the best wings we’ve ever had, the wings alone have us not going to Wingstop anymore.
I can’t wait to try the catfish, dumplings, hibachi and everything else.
Skip all the other places in downtown Duluth and head here, you’ll thank me!
Part 1: The food (most important part)
who doesn’t like fresh ready to cook wings? Also, who doesn’t like hibachi style fried rice? The kind that is flavorful/savory/buttery fried rice and not like typical take out fried rice.
We got the Sumo special combo F (fried rice and 10 wings). We asked Mary, the owner, and her husband if that will feed a grown man and a woman and she said it could and her husband showed us what it would look like for that order (picture should show how big the order is). We decided it would be enough but we wanted to try other things so we ordered chicken tenders and dumplings. the money maker is the honey hot wings (medium) and the lemon pepper wings (dry rub) are my recommendations. Ultimately, they have their food fresh to cook and the owners are such sweethearts. They came by to talk with us and make sure we were having a good time.
Final and small part 2: how to get inside the restaurant(because it’s tucked in and parking is a bit awkward): it’s off of busy streets and in front/attached to a big residential apartment complex (District at Duluth Apartments). There’s two entrances to the parking garage either when you go east on rt. 23 or east on Duluth hwy. There’s a big sign that says PARKING or you go into the apartment complex and there will be signs for parking for retail shops. This is also important- you need to scan the QR code to register your car to park but there’s a free two hour parking so that’s plenty of time for you to enjoy the food.
All in all, if you’re in the mood for wings AND fried rice (cat fish and tilapia were great also btw) you’re in for a treat for this location. Top notch all around. Thanks for reading this review. Hope you enjoyed your stay. Have a good night!
Go early if you prefer less wait, check the menu ahead of time (wings + hibachi combos) and be aware that you might pay slightly more than a conventional wing-bar. But you’re paying for nicely cooked food and a pleasant space.
