TURNED AWAY PAYING CUSTOMER, CORPORATE OFFERED NO RESOLUTION

Drove to the Honey Baked Ham Marlton location yesterday specifically for lunch. Upon arrival, staff informed me they’re not making sandwiches until after December 25th—a full week away—because they’re “focused on holiday orders.”

What This Cost Me:

• Round-trip drive time and gas wasted
• Forced to find another restaurant for lunch
• Zero advance warning on the website, Google listing, or any phone message

The Real Issue:

Honey Baked Ham shut down their core sandwich business for an entire week during peak season. This isn’t a small staffing hiccup—it’s a failure in operational planning and capacity. Successful businesses scale up during busy periods, not shut down a revenue stream and leave customers hanging.

Corporate Response: Nothing

I called corporate headquarters. No resolution offered. No accountability. Just excuses about “holiday volume” and that corporate doesn’t control how stores operate.

Bottom Line:

I came ready to spend money. They turned me away. Then corporate dismissed the complaint entirely. I’ve purchased holiday hams here before, but after this experience and the complete indifference to operational failure, I’m done. There are too many competitors who know how to run a business properly.

If you’re not making sandwiches, update your online presence and phone message to warn customers—or stop advertising sandwiches you refuse to make.

Went in to get a ham for Christmas. The main sign with the ham options, sizes, and prices was covered by garland. The woman working was not helpful. It was just an upsetting interaction trying to learn what ham options they had. We left and went home where I easily ordered one online to be delivered for less money than the ones she was offering in store.

Waited in line for 2 hours today to pick up my prepaid ham. When I finally got to the register I had to wait even longer for them to make it. When customers in line complained to the man in charge about the wait and said they were going to complain online he responded by telling us that our complaints are “laughed at” and don’t matter. Prepaid order pickups took much longer than walk-in’s. Nobody’s order was prepared or ready. The entire point of prepaying is so you can be in and out. They should have people outside organizing and giving out orders. Very poor management. No excuse for people to be waiting so long to pickup an order that’s already paid for.

I recently called the HoneyBaked Ham Company in Marlton, NJ to confirm my Thanksgiving order, and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing. The representative I spoke with was dismissive and unwilling to provide a clear answer about pricing. When I asked for a set price, I was told it would only be determined by the weight at pickup — leaving me uncertain about the final cost of my holiday meal.

When I explained that I wasn’t comfortable with such ambiguity, the response I received was sarcastic and unprofessional. I ultimately chose to cancel my order because I don’t believe customers should be left guessing about what they’ll owe at the last minute, especially for something as important as Thanksgiving dinner.

Customer service should be about clarity and respect, and unfortunately, that was not my experience here. I will not be returning, and I hope management takes steps to improve how customers are treated moving forward.

The customer service representative I spoke with was named Holly.

Saying goodbye to Heavenly Ham (aka Honey Baked Ham). I have been going here for long long time. Today was my last day. They were taken over by large Corporation and made following changes:
* no more French Bread (my favorite)
* no more macaroni salad (my favorite)
* had no lettuce today (really?? you make sandwiches – have someone walk down to wholefoods and buy few heads of lettuce).
* Prices went up.
For the price of two boxes lunches (they now put sandwiches in bags) we could be in the ball park for sit-down dinner at Outback or our favorite Italian Restaurant in Maple Shade.

I am not leaving angry and want to say thank you for all the years of providing meals perfectly.

For the second year in a row, I called ahead and ordered a ham for Christmas. Gave my name and phone number (to a male employee) but was never given the option to prepay. When I went to pick up the 13lb ham I ordered, they didn’t have my information, again, and could only offer me a 10lb ham. If you’re going to take the time to get customer’s order ahead of time, keep track of it. Might reconsider using this place in the future.

Awful experience – ordered 3 turkey breasts for Thanksgiving to feed 12 people and when we went to heat up the turkeys we discovered that 2 of them were ham. And frozen. We don’t eat ham. Ruined the meal for certain. Waited 2 hours to pick up the wrong items, customer service is awful. The turkey we did get was smoked and we didn’t order smoked. Absolutely awful all the way around. Do not go here.

Bought a bone-in ham for Christmas dinner, and ended up being the best tasting ham we’ve ever eaten. Picked it up on the 24th in the afternoon and wasn’t busy inside; plenty of employees working. Service was fine because my experience was mostly in & out.

Not worth it. They give you a window of time for pick up, then you wait in line for over an hour anyway. I would have come earlier if they hadn’t given a time
