Tried Annam VL for their Wednesday specials and really enjoyed it overall.
Food:
Bo Kho (4.5/5): Excellent beef stew. The broth was rich, thick, and deeply flavorful, with a nice balance of savory and sweet. The meat was very tender and soaked up the flavor perfectly. It’s hearty and satisfying, especially on a cool day.
Bánh Mì (3/5): Pretty standard. The bread was fresh and crusty, but the filling was light and could use a bit more flavor or sauce.
Service: Quick and polite. Everything came out warm and fresh.
Ambiance: Simple and casual spot, good for a quick meal or takeout. It can get busy during lunch hours, but the turnover is fast.
Parking: Street parking only, but usually not hard to find a space nearby.
Overall, a solid midweek stop with great Bo Kho and friendly service. I’ll definitely come back to try more of their menu.

This place has become my comfort food place. Each soup is made daily with fresh noodles and broth and you can taste it. I look forward to trying each days unique soup options. This family run spot makes you feel like one of the family. I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite if I tried but the Wednesdays Hû Tiẽu Bó Kho is a must try along with there Bó Bia.

This place is a fantastic place for high quality Vietnamese Pho and Soups. Please be ready and aware that they rotate their Pho/Soups by day of the week. This allows them to make each dish as fresh as possible and with as much flavor as possible.
They do a have a good list of appetizers that will be there regardless of the day. Two appetizers will can be one person own meal. The Bahn Mi is really tasty and fresh and a reasonable side. The two soups my wife and I had were some of the most rich and flavorful Viet Soups we’ve ever had.
The Chili oil is really really really good but be careful because it will hit you with a dry back of the throat burn. You won’t feel like your mouth is on fire but if you overdo it you will be coughing like crazy.
I highly recommend coming to this place the staff are super nice and caring about. They want to make really good food and share it with people.
All the meats, meatballs, and viet cured meats are super tasty and high quality. Best I ever had in Portland.

We got pho and some rice wrapped appetizers. They were ok. The bean sprouts smelled a little stale but they changed those for us up on request. The ingredients didn’t seem fresh but were passable. We definitely had better ones elsewhere in Portland. I honestly do not understand the top rated reviews. Maybe we came on a bad day (Saturday lunch). They were busy but it’s not like they had a line. The service was surprisingly slow for a place with limited menu options and pho, which typically have their broth ready. For comparison, we went to Rangoon Bistro and despite being busier and having a larger menu, we were served our first dish within 5 minutes. I’d say this place has potential but a pity we didn’t get to experience it at its best.

Chef An and his team never disappoint. Today I tried a dry soup for the first time and it’s now going to be my Friday tradition. So damn good, highly recommend this family business!!

Amazing amazing amazing pho!!!! We went during their opening week a while ago and were obsessed with the daily changing menu. The soup was fantastic with lots of toppings. My companion wanted the soup to be saltier and the waiter brought out a mixture of sauces which he recommended we try if we wanted a bit more of a kick. Absolutely loved it, wish I could remember what it was. We also got the iced coffee which did not disappoint. Overall great food great experience. Will have to return.

Tried the Bun Moc pork broth for their Thursday special. Hands down the best Pho I’ve ever tried. The tofu spring roll was fresh and generously sized. Service was attentive and friendly. Would recommend to anyone visiting Portland!

You know how sometimes you muster all your strength to get out of the house and do something fun, get some good food, this place did the exact opposite of that. We got there around 7 for their street food pop up that ends at 9, literally half the menu was sold out, which was fine, but the food was so average, beef overcooked no flavor, i could have made this better at home. So no didn’t have a good time and just felt like a waste of my saturday night. on top of that the wait for the food was 30+ minutes.

I wish I could give this place 6 stars! The Friday soups were unbelievably good. Can’t wait to try the other days!
The woman who served us fell in love with our baby and gave her free noodles and potatoes and shrimp. It was awesome. They’re so friendly and you can tell the family puts a lot of love and hard work into their food..

Everything was good at Annam VL.
Small streetside , unobtrusive footprint makes it difficult to locate if you’re not from the Belmont hood. But once inside, the vibes are welcoming and the smells alluring.
About 12-15 tables makes this a smaller venue so plan accordingly.
Service was friendly and efficient.
Food came out in stages. First up was the banh it tran…2 delicious pillows dumplings loaded with fill , served with do chua and a nuoc mam based sauce.
The banh cha ca tom was next. Delicious soup with noodles, pork and cha lua.
Handicap ♿️ doable
Restrooms clean.
A bit pricier than 82nd st. Vietnamese restaurants but worth it.
Final take…recommended.
