Service was lovely. Our server brought us the mushrooms on the house because they didn’t have my first choice order. She was so sweet, explained the dishes to us when we asked, and everything came out quickly after we ordered! Absolutely a great lunch spot but probably an even better evening snack spot with friends. 10/10 would go back another time!
Serving size was also huge! Shrimp and mushrooms were sooo juicy and the curry flavor was really nice. 100% would recommend. Most importantly, our server was super friendly and made sure we had a nice stay
The dishes always look amazing, and the ones I’ve tried mostly live up to the visual promise.
Let’s start with the mushroom tempura appetizer–crispy, light, and a definite repeat order. For mains, I used to be loyal to the Dill Egg Salad Sando… until I encountered rogue bits of eggshell. Twice. I get it, these things happen (I’ve made enough egg salad to know), but still, it was enough to ruin the vibe.
So I pivoted to the Rosemary Katsu Sando–which quickly stole my heart… until I met the Portobello Katsu Sando. Game over. This is now THE one–perfectly crispy, hearty, and ridiculously satisfying.
My husband swears by the Curry Udon with Katsu. I respect it, but it doesn’t quite hit my personal flavour profile. To each their own.
Food: For the price, it’s pretty worth it considering how much you get.
Rosemary Katsu Sando W/Sides: It was good overall minus the bread which were a little on the soft/soggy side. If it was toasted a bit more, it would’ve held it shape a lot better. Besides that, chicken was tender and the fries were good.
Dill Egg Salad Sando: Personally, was okay to me. I can, however, see how many would like this. It’s refreshing and perf for the summer.
Curry Plate: Chicken Katsu with curry was delicious. Juicy chicken with crispy skin and flavorful curry sauce were much needed. Especially with the soup it comes with. Soup is only for dine-in btw.
Crisscut Rose Tteokbokki with Katsu: I, personally, am not a fan of tteokbokki, but found this was yummy. The best part was dipping the chicken katsu into the sauce.
Cauliflower Tempura: A must get! It was so good and crispy. Went really well with the garlic aioli. Only downside was that it was extra oily.
Service: The service here was great. Attentive and responded with care.
Ambiance: It’s a casual food spot where you can go anytime. They even have their own strawberry milk which you should try.
Parking: Plenty of free parking available.
I enjoyed the katsu chicken and box style food preparation.
Chicken noodles and mac were good. The salad is missing something? Maybe everything, only had dressing. I think I would request rice instead as the portion of chicken is better than most places.
Overall definitely the katsu I was craving and next time I might try a different spice level on the curry.
Honestly, when we go out to eat we typically gravitate towards American, pizza, steaks, etc…
We saw that this location was having a grand re opening and were very curious to try a new style of cuisine because the breading in their photos that they posted on social media looked amazing and we wanted to see if that’d be the case in person as well!
WOW! Can’t even tell you HOW HAPPY we are that we went there! Like very much impressed!
So impressed we’ve gone back to try other dishes!
We got a little of everything to try and OMG everything has been phenomenal! The Katsu chicken and pork were both so very crispy while maintaining great juices! We ate them inside sandwiches, buns, on top of their special Korean tteokbokki and all were amazing!
Omg the portabello mushroom sandwich is a sleeper toooo!!! And then dipping it into the incredible Japanese style curry is NEXT LEVEL! We gotta try a curry plate next time cause wwwooowww!!!
The ambiance was also great! This location has location specific items like the fact that you can enjoy like yogurt soju which is totally a must try, beers on tap and the Yubu pockets were adorable, flavorful and very unique! The bulgogi one was epic!
Seriously everything there is absolutely incredible whether you get a sandwich, plate or even the sides like their tempura cauliflower, Korean gang jung, spicy kimchi Mandu…. All of it!
Highly recommend Katsu bar!!! You’ll definitely be glad you tried them!
