curiosity brought me here, and i’m glad it did. the moment you walk in, it feels like you’ve stepped straight into a restaurant inside mexico. this isn’t a big chain or some fancy, artificially mexican themed place. from the floors and walls to the tables, decor and the staff, it’s exactly like a local “mom and pop” restaurant in middle class mexico.
if you are looking for a modern, polished “mexican-style” restaurant, this place isn’t for you. but if you want something truly authentic, you’ll like it.
the menu was new to me, but the waiter was very helpful. i ordered the beef fajitas—the portion wasn’t huge, but it was plenty for one person. a great spot for a real experience!

Quesabirria tacos and the Al pastor tacos were very good. Chips and salsa at the beginning of the meal were a little lacking. The salsa was a bit watery. Service was good, everyone was very nice and they were attentive during our meal.

Support local! Huge portions!!! Food is very flavorful and delicious. Their salsa is slightly spicy and the chips perfectly prepared. The beef fajitas came out overflowing and a great mixture of meat and veg. The chicken chimichanga was stuffed full and topped with yummy cheese sauce. The staff was spectacular…very helpful, kind, friendly, and courteous. There are a few outside tables but the street is a little noisy. There is on-street parking.

Today was my second visit, last week I grabbed some tacos to go for a late breakfast…chorizo&egg on flour, Al Pastor and Barbacoa on corn the sautéed onion was a perfect plus.
Went back this afternoon for to go tacos…crispy Tripa and Lengua…on corn. Rockin!!!
I can’t wait to go back to catch their happy hour and eat in. Great service, friendly folks and legit cuisine. Don’t miss out!

We stopped in coming back home to Fort Myers from Disney, and so glad we decided to stop to eat.
My husband had a big bowl of caldo de birria, it came with a side of diced onions, cilantro, jalapeno, and lime also came with a order of fresh handmade corn tortillas (he gave it a 10). My kids (4 & 6) shared a plate of chicken flautas (came with 4) with its crema, lettuce and diced tomatoes also with a side of rice and beans (kids gave it a 10). Last, I ordered a big bowl of caldo de res (best I’ve had at any restaurant) it has a lot of vegetables and meat, the flavor was great (taste just like mine) it came with a side of diced onions, cilantro, jalapeno, and lime with a fresh side of handmade corn tortillas as well (I gave it a 10). We will definitely drive back to try something different one day. The chips and salsa they set out did worry me because we expected salsa but regardless im glad we stopped by, definitely NOT disappointed! My kids an husband ate from my caldo too and finished it off. 5 stars! 1 out of 10, Berthas Kitchen was definitely a 10!

I came in thru the back, used the restroom. It was very dirty. I ordered tamales rice and beans. My entire order was warmed up in a microwave and smothered in white cheese. The rice wasn’t authentic and had zero spices. It was orange colored rice. The tamales were squishy from be warmed and doused with white cheese in the microwave. I will not be back.

Great tasting Mexican food in downtown Wachula. We had Birria tacos and traditional Mexican tacos, and both were excellent. The homemade guacamole was very tasty, too. It was a very nice lunch
