We arrived early in the day and were among the first people to place an order. Despite that, it took over 40 minutes to receive just two items. We had to ask about our order three separate times. It honestly seemed like the food wasn’t even started until the second time we asked. Each time we checked, we were told they were “waiting on rice.” That explanation didn’t make sense considering every dish comes with rice—it should already be prepared.
After finally receiving our food, no one apologized for the long wait. The cashier also had very dirty fingernails, which was pretty off-putting when dealing with food. I didn’t see anyone using gloves either. There were around ten people behind the counter, but somehow nothing seemed organized and very little was actually getting done.
To make things worse, when they handed us the bag, they forgot the rice entirely and had to call us back to add it. The whole ordering experience just felt disorganized and messy.
The grocery side of the store was okay, but nothing special. Most of the items are things you can easily find at H Mart for the same price or cheaper. The fresh section is very small. The meat section was especially odd—it’s set up in a tiny room that looks like it used to be an office, which felt a bit uncomfortable.
The building itself also looks unfinished. From what I understand, this location used to be a kids’ bounce house place, and it doesn’t seem like much renovation was done outside of the restaurant counter area. The front doors are half painted and already chipping, and there are grocery carts sitting around for stocking shelves with no one actually using them, which makes the place look cluttered and messy.
The drink we bought was rusted and very unpleasant.
When we finally got home and tried the food, the only thing that was actually good was the naan. We ordered chicken tikka and aloo gobi, and both dishes were extremely oily and far too spicy, with an overpowering flavor that made them hard to eat. The rice also had a million hard whole spices in it, the ones they should be taking out. The portions were also very small for the price. One container wasn’t even full.
Overall, this was a very disappointing experience. Between the long wait, lack of organization, cleanliness concerns, and poor food quality, we won’t be coming back.
Malai kofta was really good, 100x better than the Mint Room’s Malai Kofta. It was very flavorful, fresh kofta, not heavy creamed. It felt light and not heavy, not overly heavy on the masala or oil as well. It was great. I would like to try other curries next to see how they compare. Naan and rumali roti were made fresh! Could see the dough being rolled out and were made just like in India. 100% not frozen and was amazing. Again better than Mint Room or Andaz. Tandoori chicken looked really really good.
Vada pav patty was good, but the bread was hard and stale. Its been sitting too long in the heater and should be changed out frequently. Sabudana vada was hard as a rock, might as well have eaten a hockey puck. I told the cashier that it was hard and he told me “thats the Indian style, its supposed to be hard”. I’ve been to India 4x and that is a horrible excuse lol. Just because I am not Indian doesn’t mean I don’t know hahaha. It should still be edible and not hard enough to break your teeth! It was just thrown in the trash. Overall, things made in the back should be good and highly recommend!!but the stuff in the front heater area I’m front may be a pass..for now. Its only day 2, so it may improve. Id like to try their fresh jalebi when its perfected.
Update: went back and the malai kofta and rumali roti was consistent with the first experience. The idli we received tasted fresh, while some chutney were overly too spicy, the peanut chutney was very good with it. The tandoori chicken was flavorful and juicy with a kick of spice even though I asked for mild, I believe it could not be decreased due to the marinade. The chat was made fresh at a chat table!
Coming to the restaurant- I ordered egg fried rice , it tastes bland just rice, eggs and under cooked vegetables.
Egg Hakka noodles are decent but that too lacks good taste.
Pastries are good.
And they also have groceries you can purchase. Its a win-win gor th customers.
Kudos to the management and kitchen staff!
