My friends and I did a thing today. We make a point to patronize black business as the only way to build our communities is to invest and also patronize them as the presence of beautiful, educated, minority consumers is important when changing the perception of an area.
Today we went to “Hattie’s Chicken and Waffles”. Is conveniently located off the i20 exit minutes from “The JSU” main campus. The decor in establishment was quaint with an nostalgic ambiance in the heart of the city. It has an awesome patio (me and my friends, we love a patio) and great music. It was an entire vibe. I can definitely see the vision. Most importantly, the food was amazing. This was the epitome of soul food at its finest. The staff was great, very attentive and sweet. I highly recommend others try it out as we were told mimosas are being added to the menu for brunch. I can’t wait!!!

My son says “We should eat at Hattie’s every meal of the day.” My husband sat and cried happily as he dunked all the chicken in the most insane sauce ever. I threatened everyone at the table when they tried to share my greens and macaroni and cheese. And then, after we all had waffles we ordered MORE waffles. Because, the food is DELICIOUS and the people were SO NICE and THE CHICKEN. OMWORRRRD THAT CHICKEN ♡♡♡♡

Great food great customer service! Waffle was light and fluffy with just enough spice from spicy chicken breast and then a touch of sweetness with the pickle! I enjoyed this meal today! Strawberry lemonade was pretty darn good also! Thanks for a great meal

Today was the first time my husband and I tried this restaurant, and we are hooked. The food was great and the customer service was even better. We really enjoyed our dinner and we will definitely be back. FYI, they even have a drive though.

First and last visit . I only gave 1 star because the customer service was top tier. BUT the food.. I don’t know what it’s supposed to give but this is not it. Literally just handed us old food. Not to mention even had us waiting on food and it is cold. Everything tasted like it was cooked in old grease and sat aside all day. Thanks but no thank you.

The overall experience was pretty good. Staff was very pleasant, over the phone as well as in person. Chicken was perfectly fried and I enjoyed the greens. Waffles had a great flavor but were a bit on the soggy side which I feel came from the steam within the box. My only complaints are not having lids for the side cups because I did get home with spilled greens in the bag and checking orders for accuracy because I was missing my pepper(which I really wanted) and 1piece of chicken.

I literally just finished a Aunties 4 piece. I was headed to Pearl and made a U-turn on Hwy 80 to come here for the first time. They did not disappoint!!! This is some of the best chicken I’ve ever eaten and I’m serious. They cook fresh when you order so you wait about 15 min or more but it’s worth it. Nothing sitting under the light. Don’t let the location fool you. This place is legit! I’m a foodie so I wouldn’t lie to ya.
