A quiet, cozy hole in the wall sushi restaurant situated in downtown Minot. Friendly service from a two man crew serving fantastic fresh made sushi and appetizers. The intimate setting and inviting atmosphere make this the perfect spot for date night.

I wasn’t impressed when we went in it felt like going into a strange place.
There are a very limited number of tables.
There in no host/hostess, so it was confusing.
I started to realize that there were only two people working. The staff was busting ass to take care of about 22 people.
As we waited we saw three groups being told that there were no tables.
The food was top notch and I realized that one sushi chef was making everything fresh to order and the sushi chef brought the food to our table.
By the time we left I was really impressed, first impressions can be mis-leading
Be sure to get there early and wait for a table… you won’t regret it.

I so badly wanted to love this place- food and presentation looked awesome. But I got horrible food poisoning after eating here! The waiter was also completely overwhelmed. It was just him, he barely spoke English, and he kept forgetting our drinks and what we had ordered. Oh, and the power randomly went out when we were there!

I tried to reexplain to the waiter he entered the wrong item 3 times and I pointed at it on the menu, he just kept nodding and repeating himself. The roll was a difference of $11. Very disappointing experience.

I randomly found this place while walking around downtown Minot, and I was honestly surprised to discover it’s located in a basement, it feels like a hidden spot, similar to those little secret restaurants you find in Seattle.

Once inside, it completely exceeded my expectations. The atmosphere is amazing, with a cozy and chill Japanese-style interior. The owner welcomed us personally and was incredibly kind.

We ordered the rolls, sashimi deluxe, and takoyaki, everything was delicious. The fish was fresh and the flavors were spot on.

I highly recommend this place (although part of me wants to keep it a secret because they only have a 7-10 tables and I don’t want to wait in line next time )

Just a heads up! service and food might take a little time since there were only two staff members and the restaurant was full when we visited. But honestly, it’s totally worth the wait.

Had a great sushi night here. The rolls were fresh and beautifully presented, especially the salmon roll with spicy mayo and tobiko. The sashimi was very fresh and melted in your mouth.
The takoyaki was crispy outside and soft inside with a rich sauce.
Cozy atmosphere with a cool sushi bar vibe. Definitely coming back!

If you’re looking for a hidden gem, this little hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant absolutely blew me away! The sushi was incredibly fresh and full of flavor, and every dish we tried was amazing. The restaurant itself was very clean, and the customer service was excellent — everyone was friendly and attentive.

I was honestly surprised by how good everything was, especially for such a small spot. The portions are generous, so you definitely get great value for what you pay.

This place completely exceeded my expectations and I will definitely be coming back. Highly recommend checking it out if you love great Thai food and sushi!

MINOT. We have a hidden sushi lair. And yes, you’re going to want in.

.. we almost didn’t open the door.
You know that split second where you’re standing at the bottom of a staircase, staring at a fabric-covered doorway, wondering, “Is this it? Are we about to walk into someone’s storage room?”
That was us.

You head down the stairs, it’s quiet, there’s this draped entrance in front of you, and for a second you hesitate. It feels secret. Almost forbidden. Like you need a password.

But we opened it.
And I am so glad we did.

Because behind that fabric door is Thai Hot Sushi Don, and it feels like Minot’s best kept underground secret. Stone walls. Warm lantern light glowing from the ceiling. A cozy sushi bar. Japanese artwork and greenery tucked into the space. It’s intimate, moody, and unexpectedly charming. The kind of place you discover and immediately think, “Wait… how is this here?”

And we were their very first customers for the soft opening.

The food came out and it was clear this wasn’t just another sushi stop. It was artistry. Heart-shaped “Lovers” rolls wrapped in vibrant tuna, drizzled perfectly, balanced with creamy heat.

Nigiri so glossy and fresh it practically shimmered under the lantern light.

And the octopus dish served over crushed ice with lemon, cucumber, kale garnish, fresh wasabi, and a rich glaze? Tender, flavorful, beautifully plated. It felt intentional. Thoughtful. Elevated.

For a moment we stood there unsure whether to open the door.

Now? I’m telling you — open it.

Go down the stairs.
Push through the fabric.
Trust the adventure.

Thai Hot Sushi Don is not just a restaurant. It’s a hidden experience waiting for you to be brave enough to step inside. And once you do, you’ll be very, very glad you did.
