We cannot say enough good things about this restaurant and experience. Valentines Day reservations for 1715. The drive up through the mountains to it was beautiful! We had to enter through a gate where a guard greeted us. Simply told the guard we had reservations at S&T, she gave us a pass, then we proceeded. Once we got to the restaurant, we noticed valet was $50 for the day. So we drove back down the fairly steep hill and parked in the parking lot shared with the lodge and snowboarders using the slopes. We walked up and met the host, sat us quickly. Greeted by our waitress and from then on out, everything was great. The food, the service, the atmosphere, all of it, amazing. I don’t advise going without reservations and also intend on spending 2-3 hours here. Get all the things you want, every food and drink we tried was impressive. Our Valentines Dinner for 2 was $270+ after tip.

I had the pleasure of gathing with friends and co-workers for an amazing intimate celebratioin. The night time atmosphere is amazing with fires going, low level lighting and plenty of places to gather before or after dinner. Upscale but not formal and the drinks and food was fabulous! Very attentive staff that checked in on us often, but let us have our time together. Food for our event was fantastic, and plenty of variety, not too rich or spicy, but savory with a down home personal chef-made fresh ingredient feel. The Whiskey Sour is the best i’ve ever had, including on my trip to Lexington KY even…I just can’t wait to take my family to experience this unique dining experience and order some of the specialties listed on the menu. The ambiance, food, and staff are worth the beautiful drive to get there. It’s an experience to remember and not just dining. Well done team – thanks from all of us who had a fantastic time and inviting gathering. Definitely booking again!

Wow. We made the 50 min drive to utilize our Resy credit and it was worth it! Everything from the cocktails to the food to the service were phenomenal. Brit was exceptional in the bar area and Hannah, our server, was extremely friendly and helpful with the menu. We had the seasonal duck breast which was cooked perfectly, the Tuscan chicken, and the peach and burrata salad.

We had an amazing experience from the moment we stepped in the door. The staff greeted us. We ordered coffee as we had a reservation at smoke and timber. It was quiet and we were walking around checking things out. The staff came out and handed our coffee even though we were on the other side of the building. The staff members gave us some s’mores for our kids to hang out at the bonfire.
The ambience downstairs and upstairs or very superb and intentionally decorated to set the tone of a relaxed cozy cabin vibe.
Service was very exquisite and our server was very personable. We ordered the focaccia, steak fries, scallop mushroom risotto, and The beef Wellington. The steak fries could have been crispier but we’re delicious. The aioli really didn’t have flavor very bland. The focaccia was on point, Loved the butter. The scallop mushroom risotto was amazing, some parts of the risotto could have been cooked slightly longer. I found a hair(s) in my beef Wellington, the staff and manager was quick on responding on how to handle the situation. The pastry was flaky, the meat was tender, and very flavorful.
I have to say the the staff could compare to the hospitality of being at a four seasons hotel experience. If only the staff outside would be more gentle with some words when a family is present.
We came on a less busy night so I cannot compare to what it would be like during high season.
I highly recommend and my family and I will be back to dine and hit the slopes!

What an amazing experience across the board. We had the privilege of dining here tonight, and our entire group was raving about the atmosphere, food, and service. We had 13 people, so we pretty much sampled the entire menu, and there wasn’t a complaint to be found. The crown jewel was the salmon. It was a huge portion served on a cedar plank. It was cooked perfectly, and the flavor profile was exquisite! Our server, Hannah, was simply amazing as well. Her energy was fantastic, and she was on point with her service. 10/10!!

Similarly to Hatley Point as a whole, while there is still some refinement in progress, we were thoroughly impressed and definitely pleased. While the menu does have a range of price points for the entrees, the meat and fish options were all over $50 with most sides ala carte. I 10000% feel that the prices were worth it. The scallops were divine, and the beef wellington was cooked to perfection. They were unfortunately out of salmon that day, but no one was disappointed with their meal. Anything comparable would be found 45 minutes away in Asheville, so pay for heart and soul warming food at the base of the slopes and enjoy every bite.

We visited Hatley for a two day ski trip. Initially we got drinks and some starters at Smoke & Timber after a night ski. Then promptly made reservations for dinner the following night. The food here is fantastic. Its very much an elevated dining experience within a beautiful mountain resort setting. The menu is versatile and delicious, the cocktails are unique and balanced, the wine selection is on point. An outstanding factor is also the service. Every staff member we had the pleasure of interacting with was just that. An absolute pleasure. Huge shout out to Natalie who provided one of the best restaurant experiences for us as our server. Edward was an absolute delight. He inadvertently ended being our bartender for the weekend of serving us at two different venue locations at Hatley. And….our savior Mia. Who actually stood up to the claim of always traveling with a deck of cards. A claim my husband and I make but failed at this weekend. Overall, this is an incredible venue that values hospitality and quality. Its very family friendly, AND also very fitting for a romantic couples getaway. We look forward to coming back!

I have to give credit to Hadley Point’s marketing team, five minutes after seeing their latest Smoke & Timber ad on my social feed, I had a dinner reservation. Unfortunately, the experience didn’t live up to the promise.
The positives: Smoke & Timber’s décor delivers a chic, destination-worthy vibe. From lighting to seating, the dining room exudes excitement. The staff is attentive and provides the level of service you’d expect in a space of this caliber. The menu, though concise, offers a solid range of beef, poultry, fish, and pasta. Cocktail selections are creative and cater to a variety of palates. Our Espresso Martini and Bourbon based concoctions were all on point
Where things fell short: Our initial order included French Onion Soup, Caesar Salad, The 22oz Espresso-Rubbed Ribeye, Smoked Ricotta Agnolotti, and Corn Bread. Shortly after ordering, we were told the Agnolotti and Corn Bread were sold out. Disappointing for a Friday night barely two hours into service. We pivoted to The Winter Squash Lasagna and House-Made Focaccia.
French Onion Soup: Rich broth, plenty of caramelized onions, and a generous gruyere topping. Balanced and satisfying.
Caesar Salad: Crisp Romaine heart, but the dressing lacked flavor and the croutons were chewy.
Ribeye: At $95, expectations were high. The steak, cooked sous vide to 120° and reverse-sear finished, was promised at medium rare but arrived at a perfect medium. While not shocking, it was still a letdown at this price point.
Winter Squash Lasagna: Seasonal appeal, but served lukewarm as a bowl of Mafaldine pasta in a tomato-based sauce with cheese and no discernible squash.
Focaccia: Lofty but uncharacteristically dense with most of the savory & aromatic herbs missing from the crust.
We wrapped with dessert ordering the Dark Chocolate Pots De Crème and evening special which was a baked meringue topped with a chestnut mousse. The latter was delightfully subtle in flavor and a textural phenomenon. The Pots De Crème was luxuriously rich and chocolatey. These were the standouts of the evening.
Final thoughts: While the menu is seasonal and will inevitably change, the takeaway here is a general lack of attention to detail in executing it which is concerning for a restaurant at this level. For that reason, I wouldn’t return.

It’s so nice to have such an upscale restaurant right in the ski lodge! They even had a jazz band. The food was good but a little uneven. We saw a tray of bread go out to another table that consisted of six fresh rolls but we received three small slices of bread. Our entree was not evenly heated. But drinks were good, our waitress was attentive and we liked the menu variety. The best thing I ate was the onion tart special. They were also out of a lot of things which I guess you should expect for such an isolated location. We left in good spirits though, feeling satisfied.

We had an amazing experience at Smoke and Timber in Wolf Laurel. The food our server Selena truly made the night exceptional! From the moment we were seated, she was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Selena has the perfect balance of professionalism and great personality.
Her recommendations were spot on. The food was delicious and the presentation was outstanding. The service was seamless, and her positive energy added so much to our evening. It’s clear she takes pride in what she does, and it shows in every interaction. If you’re dining at Smoke and Timber, ask for Selena—you won’t be disappointed!
