Bad Benny’s Pour House is a sports bar located in Highland Twsp, MI. This used to be Skybox, now Bad Bennys Poorhouse! We enjoyed our meal here, got some potato skins and a Supreme pizza, very good and fresh! It’s great spot to check out with plenty of TV’s, for sports! Food was real good and reasonably priced. Sorry for the half eaten pizza picture but it was so good we couldn’t wait! Audrey was a real good personable and attentive server!

Disappointing Birthday Lunch Experience at Bad Benny’s Pour House
I visited Bad Benny’s Pour House at 2 p.m. with my grandma for her birthday, along with my sister and daughter. We were seated and served by Tom H., and we ordered from the lunch menu: the Half “Slimmer Jane” sandwich with French onion soup for my grandma and me ($7 each), and boneless wings—Buffalo for my sister and BBQ (on the side) for my daughter. We also requested ranch dressing.
Here’s how the visit went downhill:
* **Lack of communication about pricing** – Our printed menu listed the Slimmer Jane as $7, but we were charged $10 without any prior notice. We were also charged $0.75 each for extra sauce—again, not communicated in advance.
* **Missing condiments and poor follow-up** – My grandma didn’t get sandwich sauce until I had to ask – and then was charged extra for it. My sister later asked for BBQ sauce for her fries. None of us had our water refilled; I had to get up and go to the bar and ask for it myself.
* **Delayed service and inattentive staff** – Our server cleared some plates, then disappeared. A manager didn’t check on us until 15 minutes later.
* **Tense interaction over billing** – We brought up the unexpected charges calmly. Tom H. removed the upcharges but responded by raising his voice at my grandma.
**Bottom line**: The confusing, outdated menu pricing and surprise charges led to a bill $9 higher than expected. The service was slow and inattentive, and the interaction over the bill was unnecessarily tense. If menu prices have changed for sandwiches or they plan to add charges for sauces, the restaurant needs to update the menu and inform customers—especially on special occasions. We came in for a later dinner and had such great service! Our waitress, Zoey and the cook Brent, made our night just right! Our appetizer didn’t turn out as expected and they went Above and Beyond to make up for it! My husband had the Mushroom Tortellini and ate every bite! My son had the steak bites which had an Asian flare, also very good! They brought us an AMAZING Brownie and Ice Cream dessert which was excellent! Give this great neighborhood spot a go!

Went for lunch, we had good service, no issues.
I had the turkey Reuben sandwich, very good. Sorry I had eaten half before taking pictures. My daughter had the shrimp tacos, she said it was good. She especially like the sauce. Her side salad looked good as well.

Super yummy food. They accommodated a party of 12 on the spot on a Thursday night. Had a few hiccups with some items, but staff were quick to resolve and with a smile. Will certainly be back for more good food and service. This trip we tried bang bang shrimp tacos, French onion soup, potato skins, fried pickles, pretzel, pasta, pizza and burgers!

Takeout was not pleasant. Frozen mashed potatoes that hadn’t been microwaved all the way. Kids refused the Mac and cheese. Grinder was cold. Will not be returning and hope this was just a fluke, just know before you spend $75+ on takeout.

Summer (our server) saved our experience.
We booked the front area for my dad’s retirement party. When we got there they had no idea we had the reso and all the tables were dirty and servers purses, coats, shoes taking up the space. I would highly recommend looking elsewhere if you are looking to hit a bar/restaurant. The owner (Dave) clearly doesn’t pay attention or relay important information.

I should of known better then to try this place considering it’s parking lot is always empty when I drive by. What a waste of $55 for a bunch of undercooked food. Never had pizza look so pale. The potato skins looked good but were mostly raw. Couldnt even pretend the food was editable.
