I ordered the chicken teriyaki with vegetable and rice. It took them only a couple of minutes to have the order ready. The chicken was excellent and had really good taste. The vegetables were grilled nicely too. Overall loved the food and the service here, definitely one of the better options at this food court.
I know what went wrong. If you order a bento box or a standard grill item, they plate your food and then the protein is cooked and you carry it away. If you order something special like a roll, it takes extra time because they don’t make it until you order it. That’s a good thing because that means it’s about as fresh as it can be. The cashier told me that would be 7 minutes, where the bento box took about two. That was not a problem for me. When the roll finally came out, the cashier had two boxes of rolls next to him. He asked me if I was waiting for the rolls and I said yes the spicy tuna roll, and he handed me a box. Shopping bag and started to head back to the hotel. When I got back, I pulled out the roll, and thought to myself that it looked like an odd tuna and for some reason it had sauce on it where spicy tuna roll typically does not. After the first bite, I understood why.
Major disappointment.
I’m in town for infocomm and this is part of the Vineland outlet shopping Mall. Sarku is one of the selections in the shopping food court alongside restaurants such as shake, shack, Charlie’s, etc. This is your typical Mall food court experience. I came out to the mall to find food because it was close by. Approximately half a mile. When I left the hotel the weather was decently nice. About 92° slightly overcast but pleasant. I went to the Nike store, and when it came out, it was like monsoon season., lightning and thunder, and a lot of rain. I went out to the food court, stopped by sarku, got my food and ran back to the hotel before the rain could get me since I was fortunate enough to get right in the Gap where the rain had lightened up. Unfortunately, by the time I had discovered what had happened. It was too late for me to go back since I was walking, and we were still facing rain situations along with the thunderstorms.
As far as Japanese food goes, this is standard fare. I do think that the steak and the bento box was decently tender. The potstickers were a bit overcooked and a bit hard on the outside. They don’t give you enough. Wasabi and there are no extra packets for you to get more. Perhaps you can ask and they’ll give you a bit more than they give you by default. Other than that, the portion is respectable and the price is quite fair, but I may be comparing this to California prices.
Trying not to judge the restaurant by mixing up my order. And I can’t help but think somebody is out there with spicy tuna roll when they wanted a teriyaki chicken roll. And that I overpaid for the teriyaki chicken roll that I didn’t even want. I don’t think they’ll screw up your order, and I wouldn’t not recommend going there. Just as much as I wouldn’t necessarily recommend going there either. If you have an itch for quick Japanese food, I’m sure this will scratch that itch. Just check to make sure your order is right before you head out.
It’s so good i’m willing to park my car in the worst place to find parking in orlando, just to eat here. 10/10
The place looks good but the fact that is inside a mall that often is a little dirty and unorganized doesn’t help for it to look great at first sight. Very impressive chopping skills from the chef tho
What’s even more surprising is that when I visited the same restaurant in New York, the food was served in a #5 plastic container, which is much safer for hot dishes. Why the difference in standards for the same chain?
Using #6 plastic for hot food is not just unsuitable—it’s dangerous. Polystyrene can leach harmful chemicals like styrene and benzene into hot food or liquids, especially at high temperatures. Styrene, in particular, is a suspected carcinogen and has been linked to various health issues, including nervous system problems. Moreover, #6 plastic is not environmentally friendly, as it is rarely recyclable and contributes significantly to pollution.
It’s incredibly disappointing to see this lack of consistency and disregard for customer safety. I strongly urge the management to switch to safer and more sustainable packaging, such as #5 plastic or compostable containers. This experience has left me questioning the brand’s commitment to quality and safety.
