Reviews
The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming, though not very attentive or knowledgeable. We weren’t seated until about 8:00 PM, and it took another 15 minutes before anyone came to take our order. Once ordered, the food itself came out fairly quickly however, our side items were initially forgotten.
We ordered two ramen bowls, two pork bao buns, and a pork katsu side. The ramen arrived first, but there was about a 12-minute gap before the bao buns and katsu were brought out, which meant we couldn’t enjoy everything together.
One nice surprise is that the restaurant shares space with a boba tea shop, so we grabbed drinks while waiting. The boba tea was excellent and helped pass the time.
As for the food: the broth and noodles were absolutely superb, easily the best ramen I’ve had in the Huntsville–Madison area. In my opinion, it even beats Komodo Ramen across the street in terms of flavor.
The one major downside was the portion of meat. The ramen came with only a very thin slice, likely less than an ounce, which felt skimpy compared to other ramen spots that provide a more generous serving.
Also worth noting: later in the evening there were several homeless individuals outside the surrounding businesses, which made the atmosphere less comfortable when arriving and leaving.
Overall, the food quality, especially the broth is outstanding and worth trying, but service timing, portion size, and the late-night environment could use improvement. I would return for the flavor alone, just maybe earlier in the evening.
The ramen was outstanding. Rich, flavorful broth, perfectly cooked noodles, and fresh toppings — from the soft jammy egg to the tender pork and sweet corn — everything was balanced and thoughtfully prepared. You can tell care goes into every bowl. The crispy katsu on the side was golden, crunchy, and a perfect complement.
The menu has great variety, including combos and specialty drinks, which makes it easy to customize your order whether you’re dining solo or with friends. The space is clean, well organized, and efficient even during busy hours.
If you’re looking for authentic ramen in Madison with strong flavors, generous portions, and a visually impressive dining space, Kyuramen is absolutely worth visiting. We’ll definitely be back.
Cool concept, the wait time to be able to sit in a unique spot not worth it. Plus the chairs are very uncomfortable no matter where you sat.
Service:
Every one was great, however you are not assigned to just one waitress like at typical restaurant, which is nice but also annoying because there is no system for them to know if you have been helped so they come up and ask you 1000 times. Not sure if I liked it or hated it.
Drinks: (special teas)
Now my drink was top tier . Absolutely delicious. 100% recommend. (Coconut Milk) However not all teas are great.
Food:
1st off I was disappointed that most items listed on the website they didn’t offer. We each got an appetizer to share and entree.
Spicy dumplings were very good, I would go back just for them.
Spicy cucumbers were spicy but missing flavor. Actually most everything we got was missing flavor. The heat was there but no flavor. We were very disappointed.
Plus they were out desserts or any we would want to try.
My friends got ramen and both were disappointed.
All in all another disappointed place for great food but a unique place to try once.
We had such a great time dining here. I ordered the chicken tonkatsu, which was perfectly crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and paired so well with the rice and sides. My husband got the pork omurice, and it was incredible—fluffy eggs, rich sauce, and super comforting. His meal also came with matcha pudding and cherry blossom jello, which were such a fun and delicious way to end the meal.
The atmosphere was a 10/10—cozy, stylish, and really immersive, making it a great spot for a date night or casual outing. Everything we tried was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
We’ll absolutely be back. Highly recommend if you’re craving Japanese comfort food done right! ✨
To end the meal the pudding was a light confection with pouring cream. The taste is very delicate and not too sweet. We will be returning.
I came with a big group and people came late and the servers were very accommodating with us. When the servers brought the food out they didn’t call the ramen by the actual name on the menu so everyone got so confused on which ramen was who’s. The servers were very nice though. The food was mid, that is the best I can describe it. I’m from california and the ramen here did not even come close to comparing to places i’ve had there. They do this thing where you can win a free drink, ramen, etc. if it says it at the bottom of the bowl. I won a free ramen which is cool. However, the WORST PART: we paid our bill and tipped but all thought our bills seemed a bit more expensive than we thought it should be. We got the receipt and realize they charged us a service charge without telling us!! I basically gave them a 40% tip for mid food and confusing service. I suppose I am breaking even with the free ramen if I use it but I am still upset about not being told about the service charge
The service was awesome as well! Everyone we encountered was super happy and friendly and multiple people besides our server checked on us throughout our meal. We also had a call button at our table so we could get our server’s attention really easily. We will definitely be back!
