*Good Hu Tiev Nam Vang (Phnom Penh Noodle Soup)*

The exterior of this restaurant is unassuming, and the neighboring businesses are equally nondescript. However, upon entering, the atmosphere transforms, becoming decidedly more welcoming, and the delicious Phnom Penh noodle soup is a notable highlight. Patrons have the option to choose between egg noodles or traditional pho noodles, both of which are satisfying.

I found the Vietnamese iced coffee to be somewhat bitter, and lacking sweetness, so I requested additional condensed milk. Fortunately, the server graciously accommodated my request. It is essential to note that this establishment accepts cash only, so patrons should be prepared. I did not notice any signage indicating this policy until I spoke with an older sister on the phone, who mentioned it. Subsequently, I inquired with the waiter, who calmly informed me, “Yes, cash only, but please, eat first.” I enjoyed my meal briefly before proceeding to Safeway to withdraw cash. Conveniently, there is an ATM located within the store. I do hope that in the future, they will begin accepting credit cards, as this would greatly facilitate transactions. When this change occurs, I will upgrade my rating to 5 Stars.

Overall, I wanted to share my experience to inform others of what to expect: a welcoming atmosphere, courtesy of the staff, and excellent cuisine.

This restaurant only accepts cash, not cards. We were very annoyed when we asked if we could eat without cash. We offered to pay by card, but the owner rudely told us to go to the ATM on the other side to withdraw cash before we could eat. We came to eat and paid, but she acted as if we were begging for food from her. You should not go to this uncivilized restaurant.

Important notes:
– most used entrance is in back with the big parking lot
– cash only, pay at counter when you’re done
– ask for menu if you need it

There are 2 entrances to the restaurant – the correct one is in the back with the big parking lot ha! If you go around the front you’ll usually find the door locked but if you keep trying to open it someone will come to your aid. If you hear a bird chirping you’re not crazy, there’s a robot bird in the corner. If you go when it’s busy you may have to wait but the staff does sense the urgency and they haven’t forgotten about you. Good customer service! If you don’t already know what you want you’ll have to ask for a menu. My guy got the Nam Vang rice noodle soup and I got the stewed beef rice noodle soup. So good! Don’t forget to squeeze lemon in the dip bowl with salt and chilis. Wonderful dip for the beef! We also got iced lemon juice which was incredibly refreshing. I’m a small person and the small stewed beef rice noodle soup was very filling! Next time I may just get the stewed beef with the baguette instead. The tv plays showing flea market scenes of Vietnam. Overall great experience! Kind and authentic vibe!

Also you may see an old woman selling produce as you exit the parking lot – if only we had more cash/smaller bills maybe we would’ve bought something from her

I definitely give zero star if I can
Even we haven’t enjoyed the foods here but from the moment we walked into, NO CASH accepted. We stood in front of the cafe around 3-4 mins for taking photos (because we’re traveling to Seattle for our first time). There was a lady opened the door and her face was like what are you doing in front of my store. Her face was grimace and looked at us as weird people. We walked away because we didn’t bring cash with us. Extremely bad service even still not enjoy the food here. If you want to build new customer, please change the way you serve your customers especially our first time to your business. Definitely would not recommend !!

Services are amazing: friendly & fast
Got the Banh mi Bo “beef” kho this is really good. And the steak and eggs is pretty good. Would go back and get the soup Nam vang. Cash ONLY.

Hole-in-the-wall offering delicious, authentic Vietnamese noodle soups. Friendly and efficient service. Highly recommend their beef stew soup (#4) and their #2, both with rice noodles. Broths were flavorful and savory. The beef and tendon were extremely tender. Their sliced pork and organ meats were also very tasty. Look forward to trying their sandwiches next time!

07/22/23: If you want to try Vietnamese cuisine, this is your must-to-come place. The small cafe shop serves excellent food with a cozy and warm Vietnamese atmosphere. Customers often come through the back door located near the Subway side. If you come through the front door located in the MLK, please bang on the door to get the owner’s attention. I hope it helps

Incredible soup, meat is tender, broth is rich, feels like one of the most authentic spots I’d been in Seattle. Will be back.

This spot is one of my favorite places for Vietnamese breakfast in the city. Their dry noodles are amazing — go in the morning and you’ll see all the Vietnamese old heads going hard on them, so you know it’s legit. The steak and eggs breakfast is ….chefs kiss too with that fresh Banh Mi. Used to be cheaper but I guess that’s Seattle for you. Still worth it I think.

They always have some wet market video playing on the TV, which adds to the whole vibe, and they are cash only.

Parking is in the back (Safeway lot), and you can enter through the back door, easier to access than the front door.

I went to this Restaurant Hương Quê to buy Hu Tieu Nam Vang Kho with 2 orders. It’s cost $30. But when I open the boxes, look at how they’re give to me. A few slices of meat and they don’t give to me the sauce for the dry noodles. I won’t come back to this restaurant anymore
