We found this place on our way to Raleigh, NC from Chicago. Stopped here after reading reviews online. TRUST THE REVIEWS that say this place is good…IT IS GOOD! We just moved to the Chicago area from South Texas, so we know good Mexican food and this place does not disappoint! If you are anywhere near Gary Indiana, you have to stop in to Chela’s. It’s not fancy at all, but is very clean and the prices are good. We had the Birria Tacos, chips and salsa and several different meat tacos. Then, on our way back from North Carolina, we stopped in again! My fiance thinks this is the best Mexican food outside of Texas. THAT’S saying something! We can’t wait to go back!

Dont let the outside scare you away. This small family run business was nice on the inside. The street tacos and rice were delicious and generous in portion. The owner and family were very gracious and friendly. This is my new go to for street tacos. Can’t wait to try their other offerings.

First time eating here today. Food was amazing and exceeded expectations. The Birria tacos were tasty. Everything was good. The restaurant is very clean and very nice atmosphere overall. Unfortunately, they do not serve alcohol here anymore though. The customer service here is really good too. Will definitely be coming back for more Birria tacos soon. Prices are a lil pricey but definitely worth the food

This is my new taco spot. I had the chicken tacos and my kid had steak. Both kinds were absolutely stuffed! Everything was seasoned to perfection. It is so clean in there and they practice social distancing! I’m going back tomorrow.

All I ordered was 5 Burria tacos. Nothing special. Nothing else. I called at 6:30 to place my order, no one answered. I drove and walked in at 7 on the dot. Placed my order and was told 15 min. I didn’t walk out of that Place until 7:45. Totally unacceptable, and there was no excuse for it. If you were overwhelmed you should’ve said so and I could’ve taken my money and appetite elsewhere. My time, appetite, and patience was all lost in my first and last visit here. 45 min for 5 tacos w nothing but meat and cheese, I’ll never ever patronize this place again.
