We ordered room service last night and again this morning, and unfortunately, it was a waste of money. The seafood chowder was basically a lumpy bacon mush,I took one bite and couldn’t eat the rest. The quesadilla was mediocre, and I barely touched it. The nachos were strange, pickled onions and other random ingredients that didn’t make sense. They only got eaten because a hungry man just needed food at that point.

I get the attempt to be gourmet, but if you’re going to use unexpected ingredients, they should be clearly listed on the menu so guests can make informed choices or request changes.

This morning, I ordered the eggs Benedict, which unexpectedly came with arugula, yuck! Nowhere on the menu was that mentioned. I thought about just removing it, but the small amount of sauce was soaked into the greens, so I asked for it to be remade. It took about 20–30 minutes, and by the time it came back, I was over it. The remake had about half the potatoes, barely a tablespoon of sauce, and the English muffin was grilled instead of toasted like I’d asked. Honestly, it felt like the cook might have been annoyed or offended that I sent the first plate back.

The only thing I actually ate was the pancake, which was fine, and the fries last night, again just fine. I didn’t call back again because Douglas, who brought the food, was incredibly kind and apologetic. It was clear none of this was on him, he’s great at what he does and deserves credit for his professionalism.

We’ve stayed here several times and have had similar issues with the food. Until the menu and execution improve, I’d recommend eating elsewhere when staying here, I know we will.

Nice open, bright space. Our bartender Anne was so kind and attentive. I got the Mediterranean bowl with chicken and my friend got wedge salad with steak. I was blown away by the proportion of the chicken and steak for the price! If I wasn’t trying to be good I would have got the brisket stroganoff! Happy with the menu choices. I’ll definitely be back.

Wish the bar had a river view. It is right in the hotel lobby. Very nice bar. Comfortable. The food and drinks are good. Everything comes out pretty fast. The fish tacos were fried, not blackened, still good. Seafood chowder was tasty. I only wish it came with bread instead of crackers. The chocolate dessert was way better than the key lime pie.

In the morning, ordered an omelette, amazing but the lady acted as if she hates the place and the last thing she wanted to do was serve me. Next day, different lady, really nice, very kind vibe going to her. Same day, I get dinner to go as I am a very socially anxious person and hate being around crowds and would prefer to eat in the room the hotel had for me. I waited for one of them to come to me on their own time as I saw they were busy. The guy with the heavy accent took my order, kinda dismissive, I ordered the Mediterranean bowl and I requested that they replace the beans with shrimp as they make me sick, he says ok, I pay, he leaves. I stand there for about 10 minutes before I get my food (pretty fast to be honest for a busy place) and he hands me the food saying there you go. I look in the salad, no shrimp, and there’s beans. I didn’t want to say anything because I hate being in situations like that, it’s both embarrassing for me as well as the server I imagine. So when I got back to my room, and spent about 5 minutes picking out all the beans. Once the beans were removed, it was delicious. But it annoyed me how he acknowledged that I wanted to switch out ingredients, but was ignored and dismissed in the end. Foods great, waitresses and waiters act like they don’t get payed enough to be here or they hate their job. But that overall seems like a theme in Portland with all the other places I visited except the Gyro place, very nice lady ☺️

Quiet, relaxed atmosphere with awesome river views. Out of town friend had stayed over at Red Lion Inn. She asked me to meet her at the hotel restaurant. I had not ever been here before. What a delightful place to eat and visit.

Our timing was great as many hotel guests were in and out of here already. It was too early for any lunch crowd. Reading the other reviews explains how the main business for this place was evening drinks and dinners.

Lovely furnishings coupled with local history photos which appeared in giant size format reveal designers decorated this landmark with class and a big awareness of the past.

I wish I could speak well of the food. The wait staff was attentive when we needed them and scarce when we didn’t. Coffee was good and bottomless. Views were main asset of the place. Restroom was clean and designed to be impressive.

If you ever find yourself craving Biscuits & gravy, let me give you a tip: The B&G at the Jantzen Beach Bar & Grill (hotel restaurant in the Holiday Inn, east side of NB I-5 on Hayden Island) is most certainly NOT worth the trip. Bland. Boring. Flavorless. Even what little sausage was visible was bereft of taste. The whole combo left me wondering if I was the subject of a “Let’s see if this guy can tell that everything in his meal is a low-sodium, vegan alternative to actual B&G” experiment. Biscuits should not look and feel like pancakes. B&G is supposed to be a HEARTY breakfast, and what I had felt & tasted like someone was trying to present some sort of “Lite/Healthy/Vegan” version of B&G on the sly, without telling us so.
This wasn’t The Worst B&G I’ve ever eaten, but it definitely gives The Worst B&G a run for it’s money. This B&G was an exceptionally flavorless, joyless B&G, with nine pencil eraser sized chunks of alleged “sausage” (which tasted like nothing) in the “gravy” (which tasted like wallpaper paste).
But at least the waitress had to be asked by another employee if she’d taken my order after I’d been sitting at my table for 20 minutes. In fact, she (the waitress) hadn’t even noticed I was there, much less brought me a menu. But I can’t really fault her for not noticing my arrival. After all, there were two other customers there as well. At least she wasn’t terribly attentive, because on the few occasions when she actually did come to my table, she managed to be awfully garrulous. So much so that I wound up wishing she would just shut up and go away.
Which is a shame, because the REST of the overall atmosphere of the dining area itself is really quite pleasant.
Finally, what I got was most certainly NOT worth the price they were asking.
`Probably won’t be going back anytime soon. Definitely won’t be ordering the B&G again if I do.

We had an awesome breakfast. Our server Douglas was very friendly and spot on with his service. He recommended the Italian omelet and we weren’t disappointed . The portions are large so my friend and I split the omelet. The ingredients were fresh and the breakfast potatoes were perfect.
I highly recommend this restaurant.

We stayed at the hotel which is lovely with a beautiful view however, our restaurant experience was not good. I had the chicken and waffles which was basically a waffle with three chicken strips on it. I had to ask for butter and syrup for my waffles. Our food was boring and the service was terrible. Many people waited at the counter never to be recognized or to be told. I’ll be with you in just a moment. We were fortunate to get served in a more timely matter than most.

The staff at the restaurant inside of Holiday Inn Jantzen Beach are great folk. They recognize return guests, trying to remember preferences, and are kind to all (new and returning guests). The Garden Omelette is highly suggested with a wonderful blend of spinach, mushrooms, peppers, and cheese inside of well cooked eggs. The French Onion soup [I have been told is vegetarian] and the Tomato soup are wonderful also, warming you up after a rainy Portland day.
