Said I couldn’t come in because I was black. Very disappointing.its okay tho I lead with love and I truly do wish them the best.i will say my friend did try and defend me and they threaten to kill her. Which is illegal so I should have called the police and pressed charges. But I lead with live so I’m not gonna do that.
This is a response. I did not post this review lightly, nor with any intent to manipulate, slander, or harm a business. I shared my lived experience as a customer, which is precisely what this platform exists for. Disagreeing with my experience does not make it fraudulent, and characterizing my review as “abuse” rather than addressing the substance of what I described avoids the issue rather than resolving it.
I was denied entry, and the reason communicated to me in that moment was tied to my race. That is my truth. I understand that your establishment may believe itself to be inclusive, but intent and impact are not always the same. Inclusion is demonstrated through actions in real time, not declarations after the fact.
I also want to address something far more serious. A grown man—especially a business owner—threatening violence toward a 24-year-old woman is not acceptable, not respectable, and not defensible under any circumstances. Regardless of disagreement or emotion, that behavior crosses a line and directly contradicts claims of professionalism, safety, and respect.
Additionally, dismissing my experience by attacking my credibility or referencing my “history” does not invalidate what occurred. It simply redirects the conversation away from accountability and toward personal deflection.
It is also important to note that my review is not an isolated claim. There are multiple reviews from other patrons who have described similar experiences of racism at this establishment. Are all of those individuals lying as well? At some point, a pattern deserves reflection rather than denial.
I did not threaten anyone, nor did I encourage harm toward your business. I explicitly stated that I chose not to escalate the situation legally, despite having the right to do so. That decision was made out of restraint, not dishonesty.
I am open to respectful dialogue, but that dialogue must begin with acknowledgment rather than dismissal. Labeling customer experiences as “slander” simply because they are uncomfortable does not foster growth or trust.

Best bar in town if you’re out with friends! Owner’s are extremely nice, and so is the rest of the staff. Outdoor patio with corn hole is fun in the summer, and they also have multiple dart boards and a pool table. Bar out back helps with congestion inside. Highly recommended!!

Amazing atmosphere with great employees. Darts, pool, out back games. If you don’t have a good time at TJs it’s your own fault.

Hideaway hots is the second best establishment to enter this village, right behind TJ Ryan’s. I had the best hot dog of my life. The buttered and toasted bun was unmatched. Tastes even better at 1am as the only hots place open in the village. LOVE IT!!

Went to the Hideway Hots in the back and place is insanely overpriced for very mediocre food. Paid $9 for a hot dog that just had relish and mustard and came on white bread. They also took forever to finally come out. Would not recommend the food at the hots place. Feel like I got scammed. $9 for a basic hot dog is a robbery.

Had an office event… 10 of us. Had a great time playing pool and socializing. Started at 2:30. Kitchen wasn’t open yet. We were allowed to bring in food. Kim, the bartender, was awesome.

TJ Ryan’s is one of the best bars in Rochester. They have a pool table, darts, an arcade game, and in the summer, they have an outdoor area with corn hole. The set up is amazing and the service is always spectacular. The owners make a point to greet all of their customers and get to know them. This is a great place to support!

Fun friendly staff, eclectic people, and fair prices on drinks! Went once for a friend’s birthday on a trivia night they host (I believe 7:30 on Tuesdays.) The trivia was provided through an app service, making it easy and accessible to most. The entire trivia contest took almost 2 hours with several short breaks throughout. I am pretty sure the top prize was a $50 gift card, but my team wasn’t the winner so not positive. Overall a very enjoyable time, with a solid crowd without being elbow to elbow. Plan to start going more regularly.

I adore everything about TJ Ryan’s and Hideaway Hots. The best hot dawg I’ve ever indulged on. Tableside delivery during trivia was so clutch. Timmy Lucey goes above and beyond to bring the village of Fairport exactly what it needs. Fairport NEEDED a Hideaway Hots.
