Since 1996, El Rey Del Grill has proudly opened its doors in the heart of Little Mexico at 4535 Maple Ave in Dallas. Founded by Eve and Ray Castaneda, the restaurant was built on a love for travel and a passion for serving traditional food in a simple, authentic way. What began as a dream quickly became a gathering place where customers turned into friends and friends became family. Today, the story continues to be written one plate at a time.

I’ve been a loyal customer for over 3 years and this place used to be great with solid large portions for the price, but it’s gone downhill. Ordered 2 steak burrito bowls for $11.99 each and the portions were TINY. The steak was barely there, the container wasn’t even full, and it was mostly lettuce and condiments. Way too expensive for such small portions now. Not worth it anymore. Won’t be coming back.

When I tell you I appreciate this restaurant for there kindness great drinks customer service 10/10 thanks to the cooks they don’t serve unseasoned bland food again they drinks that’s how you make a margarita. The setup just the atmosphere is like so welcoming I tore that food up I was just smiling that food is made with love. It’s a pretty neat and above average Tex-mix restaurant. I love the quality and portions. The flavor is 4.5 stars to me. The rest is great. It’s very clean and well decorated. The menu has a very decent variety of dishes and natural drinks. The price is prob one of the beast feature. I would def recommend this place to friends and family.

I really really loved the food here! I won’t take away any stars because I go to places mainly for the food but I do have some notes. There’s way too many signs telling you what to do or not to do. Please keep those to a minimum it can create a feeling of getting chastised.
The cashier was so so so nice and the place itself is very nice, amazing food, amazing prices. The booths are a bit too snug. I would definitely be coming back. I also urge anyone to come and try it, the cochinita pibil and Beef fajitas are amazing and the homemade corn tortillas are so good!

El Rey is not only a great neighborhood place but a destination. They have the best food. Comfort food. Delicious. Always hot. Always hits the spot. Reminds me of my mom and dad’s home cooking. Don’t just walk, run. It’s that good. Chico and his staff are always so accommodating. I go Every week at least once. Sometimes twice. It’s that good! The menudo is the best in the city!

This restaurant is fantastic for drinks at the bar and lunch or dinner with friends! The seating is plentiful, the service is excellent, and the owner is always there to ensure the client’s satisfaction. It’s one of the top spots for an authentic margarita. The food is fantastic and reasonably priced.
I can’t recommend the Steak Bowl salad highly enough.
And if you’re feeling hungover, their Ramen will work like magic. Overall, it’s a top-notch restaurant!

They have a drive-thru! Mister Rey served me in my first visit here and he was incredible. There’s a strong culture he’s built here with his staff and you can feel the family vibe immediately amongst them all. Truly a special place in Dallas and operated by incredible people. The food is a 10/10! Customer care 100/10!!! So glad it exists
