We didn’t eat, so the review is based solely on the drinks and the atmosphere. This was exactly what we were looking for at the time – a very casual bar in a town where everything can be a bit polished and over-priced. Great beer selection. Friendly bartenders. I’d definitely recommend this place for a stop-in.

Except for appetizers, the food wasn’t great at all. Lacking basic salt as well in sandwiches (chicken sando) and burgers (buck burger).
The hygienic conditions were questionable, see the water jug with hair on it and glass with water stains in the photos.
The service was not something commendable either but understandable as it was packed.
Edit: I’m sure “many” would like the food as you said; however, this review reflects my experience. All 5 members of our group felt that “bland” taste and definitely lacking appropriate salt in all of our 5 burgers, chicken and beef.

SCORE! Which is exactly what we did when choosing to go with BUCK for a mid-day bite. Sitting at the bar chatting with both John/bartender, and Brad/co-owner – another score. Both friendly, down-to-earth, welcoming and hospitable. Perhaps the biggest “score” was that elk and black bean chili! Albeit 7:30 a.m. as this review is being composed, I’m pretty sure I could nail another bowl now! Freakin’ yum-mo!
The atmosphere was the *perfect* hole-in-the wall: quaint, warm and inviting, CLEAN, clever decor, with attentive, friendly service and fantastic food options! …wishing I’d have tried the “crab hush puppies” – are you kidding?!…
Bonus: we gave BUCK a go pre-reading reviews. Had I seen the multiple 1-star reviews via 1-time reviewers (helllllooo, ya’ll know we see whatcha up to, right?!), and the tactful, professional NON-DEFENSIVE response, that alone would have motivated me to support the business!

Found our new favorite Après spot! Incredible whiskey list, delicious (and great value) food, and very family-friendly. They have a great kids’ menu, which isn’t always easy to find downtown. Huge shoutout to Dan, who looked after us all afternoon and made us feel right at home. Service was 10/10. We’re already planning to head back this weekend to catch the Broncos game. Highly recommend!

I didn’t realize this was a sports bar.
I came for the food, but what i didn’t come for was the guy sitting at the table next to me swearing, spilling his beer & burping throughout my meal. The waiters were really nice, but only checked on me twice. I had to go to the bar to pay my check & the bartender seemed a little annoyed.
The food was good, but I wouldn’t come back again.

Buck in Aspen still remains one of my all time favorites. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the food is great, but what truly sets this place apart is the service. We just popped by for a couple drinks and our bartender, Dan, provided excellent service – professional, attentive, and proficient without ever feeling intrusive. He anticipated every need, offered thoughtful recommendations, and made the entire experience feel seamless and elevated.
It’s rare to find service at this level, and Dan genuinely made us feel welcome. Buck is the kind of place that makes you want to come back for another round, or two, or three!

I can’t recommend this place enough. We’re in Aspen celebrating our one-year wedding anniversary, and after we casually mentioned it, the staff went above and beyond to make us feel special. Everyone was incredibly kind, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming. The food was outstanding, and the Chef was even better. He took the time to talk with us about each dish and surprised us with a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. They didn’t even need to be open on Thanksgiving, yet they were, and they helped make our holiday truly memorable.
This spot is also surprisingly affordable compared to much of Aspen, and the staff is genuinely the nicest you’ll find. We highly recommend this place and will absolutely be back the next time we’re in Aspen!

A Slice of Advice
Came in and sat down at the bar and ordered the Tuesday prime rib with my boyfriend. Sadly forgot my ID and I started to not feel the best so we asked if it could be boxed up. They packaged it up nicely and brought it. The prime rib was delicious and this place is a really cool spot with good prices and as a local I look forward to stopping by again in the future.

Look if you are in aspen for the weekend make sure you stop by bucks.
The crew is top notch.
If you are from the east coast and you are in the mood for crab cakes head chef JJ has brought the Caribbean flavor to the middle of nowhere .
So refreshing to be able to see a chef who willing to take criticism and praise all on the floor.
The bar owner is very personal and Steven the other bar hand were phenomenal.
They have a great selection of whiskey for the bourbon hounds.
