The family and I went here on a Sunday morning looking for a homestyle breakfast cafe. That is exactly what The Red Hut Café is the staff is friendly and nice. The service and cooks are fast. The food is above average for a homestyle cafe breakfast. We all order breakfast off the menu. We all like our meals. The prices are fair for the area. They also have good specials.

We came here for our breakfast before heading to the next destination, since we had our breakfast in their other nearby outlet – we thought to give this outlet a try.

We ordered the following:
One Coffee $3.25
Eggs and Bacon $16.50
Eggs and Jalapeño Bacon $17.50
Total: $48.14 (with Tips)

The ambiance was a bit different compared to the other one, we thought maybe because it’s Monday, thus, fewer people. We thought that their coffee was a bit better than the other outlet.

The waiting time was decent, first we were being served with our regular toasts and biscuits then, followed by the main breakfast.

Though the biscuits were not really to my liking and the Jalapeño Bacon was too overpowering in flavour – though there was a spicy kick in it, I just didn’t expect the too saltiness in it. I wish I could’ve had the real bits of Jalapeño instead. And the cook was warm, friendly, and open to my recommendation, and will be willing to offer that next time

Overall, we were pleased with our meals. Happy that we visited and tried different meals.

This is what I personally look for when I want a classic “Home-Style” Breakfast. The food was delicious, I usually like to try the Chicken & Waffles of any Waffle/Pancake shop and these were on the more delicious end of the spectrum, like a 7.5/10. The portions were quite large which is a plus. My family and I left quite satisfied and we would definitely come again the next time we visit Tahoe.

**Review of Red Hut Café, South Lake Tahoe**

The Red Hut Café on Lake Tahoe Boulevard is a charming little diner that offers a quick and satisfying meal just off Highway 50. This tiny, unassuming “hole in the wall” is perfect for a casual breakfast or lunch stop, especially if you’re in a hurry but still want something hearty.

The café is small and simple—nothing fancy—but its cozy atmosphere and friendly service make it feel welcoming. The typical wait time is just about five minutes, so even when it’s busy, you won’t have to wait long to grab a seat. Service is quick and efficient, making it an excellent spot for travelers or locals on a tight schedule.

We tried the veggie omelet with jalapeños, and it hit the spot. The flavors were fresh, and the spice level from the jalapeños added a great kick without being overwhelming. If you like a bit of heat with your breakfast, this is a solid choice.

Overall, Red Hut Café is a great find for anyone seeking a no-frills, fast, and flavorful meal. With its convenient location and tasty offerings, it’s a spot we’d happily visit again when in South Lake Tahoe.

On our way home, we stopped for breakfast. My wife had been here years ago. Stepping inside, it feels like a diner from the past. There is plenty of seating with seats at the counter. The servers are very friendly, and they all check to see if you need more coffee or tea, how’s it tasting, need anything… I had the burger and onion rings. It was huge, and the onion rings loaded on the plate. My wife had a waffle and enjoyed it. I saw waffles come out with strawberries and whipped cream. We look forward to coming back on our next trip to Tahhoe.

A cute little diner style Cafe with extensive menu. Ordered the house special dish of cornbread waffle and honey butter. Unfortunately I didn’t overly enjoy it, it was very thin and crispy around the edges but the middle had been soaked with honey which made it too sweet and grainy texture. The service was great and friendly and prices decent. Next time I’d try another dish.

I don’t want to be disrespectful about this restaurant because the employees were so nice… But what we had for breakfast wasn’t what we expected, due to the fact it was 4.5 stars. I ask what they known for . They said there waffles and the all meat breakfast. So my boyfriend ordered the waffle and chicken strips. And I got the chicken fried steak.. well needless to say the waffle breakfast was a disappointment.. The waffle was very thin and the chicken strips looked like poppers..lol. My cfs was good but nothing on the plate was homemade. I’m just tired of paying too much and getting poor quality. I was really hoping for something signature from the cooks. A twist of love so do speak.

Right off the club, any waffle or pancake house that does not have real maple syrup is just hitting par with me! C’mon at least have an up charge with it. The chicken and waffle disappointed, with some sort of chicken tender and a waffle that tasted like a wafer. The pancakes weren’t anything to boast about, either. The Rösti was terrific! The help awesome, the atmosphere is exactly what I am looking for ,with bar seating. The cooks were on their game busting out food left and right. Food flying out the kitchen and staff whisking it away just as fast. A++. The bathroom was clean, parking is tight so be patient and courteous. Keep Tahoe Blue.

Ate here on our way out of town from a company retreat, on a Sunday morning. Probably the best meal i had all weekend. Nice quaint place. Staff were all friendly. No waiting, but we did beat the morning rush. (If this were in my home town, there would be an hour wait ). Would have been 5 stars if they had pepper plant, or if pancakes a bit fluffier. My biscuit and gravy were tasty! Definitely will come here when in the area.

The food here is ok. The pancakes are fluffy, the French toast is generous and tasty. I even liked the coffee. The service left a lot to be desired. Everyone was really nice, but they were busy and we elected to sit outside on a gorgeous day. The hostess sat us and brought us our coffee quickly. Everything went downhill from there. They were late in taking our order, they were late in bringing our food, but they were quick to bring us our bill. I wasn’t impressed by the food or the service. But if everything else is busy, it’s a good plan C.
