TX Rice Roll is a Taiwanese breakfast joint in Sugarland.
There are limited seats inside, but everything was made fresh in front of you at great prices. I got the scallion pancake, traditional rice roll, Tao roll, brisket rice noodles, and double egg pancake.
The scallion pancakes were super hot and crispy. There was also an ample amount of scallions. The rice rolls are filling. My favorite was the traditional rice roll which comes with pork floss, egg, fried stick, mushrooms, and dried radish surrounded in rice. The saltiness of the pork floss and crispiness of fried stick goes well together.
The double egg pancake came out piping hot fresh off the grill and was light.
The rice noodle broth was a bit blander than I would have liked, but the meat was tender.
I really like how you can see everything is made in front of you. The food is very simple but fresh and at an unbeatable price.

I’ve come here a few times the past couple of years. The food is flavorful and made fresh. They have a nice assortment of rice rolls, so you are sure to find one you like. Their other dishes are great too! The prices are very affordable and have not increased in the past year like most restaurants.
The only downside is that it may take a while to get your food. I have visited on different days of the week at different times. When they are busier (Fridays and Saturdays and late morning onwards), I have waited up to 45 minutes for my food.
Definitely worth a visit!

When it comes to the most famous and common breakfast in the south, it has to be rice balls! This rice ball shop from Taiwan offers as many as 10 flavors of rice balls, among which the preserved mustard greens rice ball and the sausage and salted egg rice ball are particularly favored by many foodies!
The shop also offers sweet and salty soy milk for you to choose from. Having a soft and delicious rice ball in the morning, paired with a bowl of rich soy milk, is simply satisfying!

Taiwan style breakfast in Sugar Land! This place has been there for a few years to serve the community with traditional Chinese breakfast. Must try their Rice roll, freshly made pancake, noodles, and soil milk drink – hot or cold. It has a friendly and casual environment, located in a shopping area of mostly Chinese restaurants and grocery stores.

Service is a little bit slow. Everything have to be hand rolled, packed.

I must confess Taiwanese breakfast is my kind of food. From the sweet soybean drinks to rice roll to fried stick eggs pancakes, it’s so delicious.
I love it in Taipei and I love it here. My only complaint is the rice rolls has too much rices on the roll, kind of like I don’t like sushi that’s wrapped with too much rice just to make the item appears bigger.

I ordered some pancakes and soy milk and fried bread sticks for breakfast.
The pancakes are super oily and not fresh looking, feels like a pre-made pancakes being more-heated in oil. I specifically asked for non-sweet soy milk, but it was sweet.
It was a take away order, so the soy milk were in paper cups, however, it is the FIRST time in my life that for take-away drinks, the cap actually does NOT fit the cup! And they have filled the hot soy milk so much, it spilled out all over my container and around the car,
While waiting for my order, I watched them making the C1. Egg pancakes, I was SHOCKED! A young early college staff was making it, and he is obviously amateur, his spread the dough on the heat pan. And was supposed to flip the pancake dough, but he broke the dough during flipping, so he was ‘fixing and reshaping’ using bare fingers, just like the way my three year old fixing his play dough cake! The other young staff, a girl was laughing and joking with him about the food while he was fixing it, I was shocked at how anyone can eat it, at all!!
Not sure if it’s a family business or hiring cheap young student staffs, it’s sooo amateur and as a Chinese, I guarantee you can find sooo much better and authentic Chinese breakfast/food in sugar land!

If you haven’t pulled up to TX Rice Roll, jump in your car and roll over there asap! Just make sure it’s before 2:30 pm. Understandably so because this is Taiwanese breakfast food. Breakfast or not, I could eat this all day!!! Shoutout to my friend for recommending this place to me. Been here twice and I’m already a believer.
I’ve ordered the Double Egg Pancake twice. This pancake is huge and folded a couple times, still bulges with so many fillings and bursts with flavor. My favorite part is the crunch inside the pancake. I need double the appetite, so I can order two at the same time.
I’ve ordered the congee with fried breadsticks. That was amazing! Just straight up comfort food. I’ve never been to Taiwan but I felt like I was at home sitting at the breakfast table while eating this.
I’ve eaten four rice rolls so far. The Vegetarian, Tuna, Sausage and Beef roll. They were all spectacular! This is like a portable meal in itself. I cannot even pick a favorite right now. They were all delicious! I’ll be back to try the Tao, Eel and probably the rest as well. Such an interesting concept, reminiscent of kolaches or tamales, not in flavor or ingredients but in satiety and portability.
Lastly, I tried the salty soy milk. This was very interesting. I expected something more salty but it was very nice. I picked all the ingredients floating in there and ate them first then drank the rest down. I’m not sure I’d order that again but I didn’t leave one drop this time.
Overall, the food was excellent! The ambiance is upbeat and active with customers constantly streaming in and the cook staff buzzing around the kitchen like honeybees. The conversations in the restaurant are lively and people are enjoying themselves. Somehow with all that activity it still feels very homey and relaxing. I’d take a nap there if I could. With a full belly, it will be a struggle not to doze off afterward. The space is small but I’ve never had to wait or not get a seat.

Best place to go for a lunch / snack
You know it’s a good Chinese place when all the other people in there only speak Chinese. The owners are very nice people as it is a family owned restaurant
I would get the eel roll/braised pork rice with a soy milk on the side
If you like Chinese fried doughnut also get that

Many people enjoy getting the soup dumplings and the sour vegetable fried rice. Everything here is exceptional and reminds me of the food in Taiwan.
