The sauce is very tasty; got a Chicago pizza, thin crust and some dessert. Can tell the ingredients are quality. Whole family loved it- would definitely recommend and go again. Not to mention the place was clean as well as the workers!!- that is huge turn off at food places. Best pizza in Abq is a good motto!!
If you know, you know. And if you don’t let me put you on. Chicago Pizza Kitchen, right in front of Peter Piper Pizza on the Westside, is hands-down the best stuffed crust pizza spot you’re not eating at… yet.
The moment that first slice hits your plate and the mozzarella melts out like pure magic, you’ll wonder why you ever wasted time anywhere else. The pizza is always fresh, always loaded, and somehow amazingly you never have to wait long. No crazy crowds, no stress, just straight-up deliciousness.
Even better? It’s veteran-owned, and the owner is genuinely one of the nicest guys you’ll ever meet. You can feel the pride and heart in every bite.
Do yourself a favor: skip the chain spots and support a local legend that deserves a packed house every night. Chicago Pizza Kitchen is the real deal and the Westside’s best kept secret. For now.
The menu (in person) doesn’t list a single price for any dish so you are ordering blindly. One small Chicago and one medium pizza with a tea and water ended up costing $50. Additionally they automatically charged me for a water bottle (not common practice in the US) without asking or mentioning it until after being charged. The tea looked good but ended up just tasting like water. I’m not sure how it was made but it was not good.
The pizza was decent and I feel the medium was an adequate size. The toppings were a little sparse, especially for the cost, but everything tasted fresh. The crust was crispy and my pizza was cooked well.
I can go to Turtle Mountain and get 2 pizzas (about the same size as the medium) with significantly more toppings for less. I understand the styles are different and thus taste shouldn’t necessarily be compared but the quantity/quality for price is a good comparison.
Overall it was definitely not worth returning for me.
Edit in response to the owner:
I agree that value is subjective and varies person to person which is why I tried to stay objective with the rating of the taste. I appreciate that you haven’t increased your prices in two years and everyone’s budget is different. I am of the opinion that the food was a little pricey for the average person walking in. This may not be a fact, but I am sharing it to help others decide if they would like to come here. I think this is important, especially since prices are not listed on your menu. I have no interest in making this a political debate as you have tried, but administration aside the inflation has been down since roughly 2024.
I will not argue the taste of the food, just compare to other locally available options. I prefer to support small businesses which is why I was interested in trying your restaurant despite the negative reviews.
I would also like to make note for others that there were hiring signs up and hopefully with additional staff business may pick up.
On a more personal note, I do not believe it is appropriate to publicly list the tip amount for your employee. Additionally the employee there should be making a decent hourly wage since he is the cook, server, cleaner, and whatever other jobs he may have.
Thank you for taking the time to reply to my feedback and I wish you and your business good luck in the future.
We had a Chicago style with mushrooms, pepperoni, and spinach…and a green chile stuffed Hawaiian with green chile extra topping.
The staff is incredibly friendly. And the atmosphere is very quaint. Always good to support a veteran owned company. Especially when they are providing a fantastic meal. We will definitely be back. Looking forward to our leftovers for lunch tomorrow.
The owner was also a super cool guy. He took his time to come over, check on us, and make sure everything was good. That kind of personal touch makes a big difference and really stands out these days.
Definitely coming back. If you’re looking for great pizza and even better service, this is the spot.
