Danielle made the best tuna melt I have had in my life, and Michele and Steve were so kind and so knowledgeable with their suggestions as they created a custom thanksgiving charcuterie board for us.
Breakfast sandwich was AMAZING – honestly, everything is. Truly, Old Agness Store was a highlight for us and we were so sad to leave.
Whether you’re in town for a while, or just passing through, strongly recommend you stop in!
We shared the Foghorn Leghorn sandwich: roasted chicken breast on a gluten-free hoagie with provolone, tomato, lettuce, and balsamic vinaigrette. It was fresh and full of flavor. We also sampled their handcrafted garlic chili sauce, a must-try and buy!
They offer a variety of gluten-free baked goods, my sister said her white chocolate cranberry was Devine! Highly recommend this cafe to anyone who eats gluten-free or has Celiac.
We were greeted with a warm welcome and very personal service. Gregarious & outgoing owners, Michele & Steve, who clearly care about the community. We were told they had just supported a rockin’ street party the prior day.
I had a smoked turkey provolone sandwich with homemade bread, fresh tomato and lettuce. It was very tasty! My husband had a bomb tuna melt sandwich. We also purchased some chocolate chip cookies, zucchini muffins to satisfy the sweet tooth and some charcuterie style salami.
We’ll definitely be making Old Agnes Store a regular stop every time we come through this community. Great people & great quality food. We were told they purchase a lot of their ingredients locally to support the areas economy (an added bonus).
We started with the two meat, two cheese charcuterie board paired with two glasses of Merlot. The ambience was perfect, simple seating with little tables up against the windows, the natural light, and even a piano tucked inside gave it a cozy, thoughtful feel.
After enjoying our wine and food, we browsed the shop, which is stocked with fresh, locally sourced foods… a rarity these days when so many places only carry overly processed, preservative-loaded snacks. I was thrilled to find clean, high-quality options for the road:
– Chipotle Infused Smoking Hot Honey
– Rosemary & Olive Oil Crisps + Artisan Crisps
– Oregon Hazelnut Toffee
– A local 2013 Pinot Noir
– Stout Mustard Sauce
– Pineapple Habanero Jelly
– A couple of incredible little chocolate squares made with just organic cocoa beans, cane sugar, cocoa butter, and roasted coffee.
The staff was genuinely friendly, and Steve took the time to chat with us and even recommended a local pizza spot in town with good beer, something we’re now really looking forward to.
This place is exactly what I’ve been searching for: a spot where you can enjoy great food, wine, and warm company, and also pick up wholesome, delicious items to take home or on the road. Old Agness Store is a gem. I’ll absolutely be back.
When my wife got back we headed up there for one of the most amazing food experiences we’ve had in a long time. As we entered the door Steve and Michelle greeted us with a hello and a warm welcome. I started talking to Steve the sandwich maestro only to discover that he baked the bread that morning, made his grandma’s tuna melt recipe with local albacore I didn’t know I was about to order.
We thought we were going to get our sandwiches to go but Michelle highly recommended that we sit down especially to eat the tuna melt. She set us up at a little table and we waited for one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with a sandwich. First of all you’re not eating this thing with your hands it takes a knife and fork. The toast was toasted perfectly and there was so much tuna and cheese that it was oozing out all the sides. The Swiss and provolone cheese in the sandwich were from small Kraft creamery cheese artisans.
They also have things like small batch jams and jellies, barbecue sauces etc. I picked up a smoked blue cheese from a local Oregon creamery. So if you want an experience where you’re being treated like an old friend or even like family, and eating some amazing food; then go to Old Agness and say hi to Steve and Michelle.
After we had lunch I went in to grab provisions for the next leg our roadtrip and asked for some help picking a blue cheese. The fellow told me all about the award winning cheese from Rogue Valley and I couldn’t help but make the spendy purchase. His passion and care had to be honoured. Even the patrons at the table near by were encouraging me to take the bite.
What attention to detail! Thank you so much, Old Agness Crew. I can’t wait to come back down the Oregon Coast someday to visit again.
TLDR: Just go. The food is amazing and the place is full of joy.
