Good food! Great vegan and vegetarian sushi options as well. Unique rolls. Service leaves a little to be desired though. I had to constantly flag a server down for a restaurant that was less than half full. The food did come out quickly once ordered. I would try it again though

This place is a gem! I’ve always loved their Herndon location, but having this one closer feels like a win. The sashimi is unbelievably fresh — melt-in-your-mouth good — and every roll tastes like it was made with extra care. Same amazing quality, just a shorter drive.

Excellent Sushi restaurant. Friendly staff and high quality dishes. Good sized portions as well. I had the the Eel Lovers tray and a Sake flight. My wife had the salmon rice bowl. Neither of us were able to finish although we wanted to.

I’ve been to their sushi restaurant in Herndon before, and this time I wanted to try their new location. The food truly did not disappoint. It’s just as delicious as their original spot. This is one of the sushi places I’ve visited many times, and it definitely deserves 5 stars. I will be coming back to enjoy more of their amazing dishes.

Truly a hidden gem. I can’t eat sushi anywhere else after I found Sushi Umi. Extremely high quality fish and very authentic all around. Staff are the nicest. Prices are also very reasonable.

This restaurant is conveniently located right next to McLean metro station; however, parking is not available. You would have to find street parking a block or two away.
All servers were nice but the service was not exceptional. I would not give five stars for service. I did not like the fact that they charge $3 for hot tea.
Salad and miso soup coming out as appetizers were flavorful. The salad dressing had right balance of sweet and sour.
Food was solid. Sashimi on Chirashi were high quality and very fresh. Sashimi were thinly sliced and melted away in my mouth. Rolls and sushi were decent as well. For non-sushi lovers, there was a bento box with meats and tempuras. It’s perfect menu for kids.
Price is not bad for a Japanese restaurant. I would love to come back here for special occasions.

We first had Sushi Umi in 2024 when my husband and I were checked in at The Archer. The salad with house made ginger dressing was amazing!!! Coming from a person who rarely eats the salad at other Japanese restaurants. We kept coming back to this place and our most recent was last Valentines Day. It was the perfect place to end the day! Sushi Umi Tysons is conveniently located just off the McLean Metro station, making it an easy spot to visit. We were fortunate to find the last available street parking.
While we initially intended to order the Belly Trio and Soft Shell Crab Tempura, a slight mix-up with our order led us to try the Belly Deluxe instead. The Toro in the Belly Deluxe was exceptional—fresh and flavorful, a real standout.
The Soft Shell Crab Tempura was crispy, though it was a bit heavy on the flour. For sushi rolls, we had the Umi Roll and the Yummy Umi Roll. The Yummy Umi Roll was unique with its cream cheese, though it felt a bit rich for my taste.

Sushi Umi has an amazing staff that pays attention to the details.
The staff provided an ice cold cup to pour the Kyoto White Peach beer that I ordered.
The fish used for the sushi and sashimi are high quality and decadent. It was also served with freshly grated wasabi; which was a nice surprise.
Store manager was extremely nice and provided an in house made Spicy Tuna on a crispy wonton like shell for me to try.
10/10 would come back to try out more of their menu!

This place serves high-quality, well-presented delicious sushi. There is a great choice of traditional rolls and signature rolls, as well as Nigiri and Sashimi. Service here is superb, and the servers are always polite, welcoming, and accommodating.
