“SOUTHERN FARE!”
While I was in town for less than a day on Sunday, July 20, 2025, our party of three adults had lunch at Hilltop Diner in Russellville, Alabama.
For my entrée, I chose the hamburger steak, and for my sides, I chose the turnip greens, black-eyed peas, and sweet potatoes. And, I also chose the jalapeño (or Mexican) cornbread for my bread, and I chose a Dr. Pepper as my beverage.
I really found the hamburger steak (with brown gravy and onions) to be ESPECIALLY delicious. I also really liked their turnip greens as well as the jalapeño (or Mexican) cornbread. (Moreover, I also sampled their coleslaw, which I also enjoyed.)
Compliments to the ENTIRE team at Hilltop Diner in Russellville, Alabama, for a VERY enjoyable meal.

We were in the Big truck, Bob-tailing.., they had plenty of room to park so we chose to grab a bite here.
As always the food could not be beat!
The people who work here treat us like family!

Excellent lunch choice for us! The smoked chicken was flavorful and fell off the bones- no need for white sauce. The green beans tasted “homemade” and the cole slaw tasted like granny’s. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Picture says it all!

Cafeteria style eating at its best!!! We went for Sunday dinner and they did not disappoint! Chicken and dressing, turnip greens, fried okra, cream style corn, Mexican cornbread and sweet tea. The dessert was the best strawberry cake I have ever eaten. Come to Russellville and try it!!!

Our first time and will definitely go back. Everyone so friendly and nice. Food very good. Best banana cake I’ve ever had. Fish and slaw so tasty. Hush puppies absolutely fantastic. We’re new to area and glad we listened to our neighbors and tried it.
