The food was delicious! I had the curry goat with cabbage. I’m looking forward to trying all of the other dishes. Run, not walk, and get your own platter. You won’t be sorry.

Too small and cramped and the security on weekends are very rude to you.. telling you to move away from away from the front door in a very rude way but the place is so small thats damn near impossible! The owner needs to stop being cheap and break down that wall behind the bar and make it bigger and better for everyone!!! Cus the kitchen is never open anyways all that space is such a waste!!! Until then this place is a no go!

Ben the bartender is great! Loved him! Attentive & funny!! He made an awesome Long Island Ice Tea!! We just moved here to West Reading & we were looking for a small very casual corner bar with a jukebox, pool table, drinks & bar food! We found it! It’s not far from where I live (about 1.5 miles away) but I don’t see me walking there! Wish it was a little closer to us! We’ll be back!

Rowdy customers drunkenly hollering inside and outside of this establishment. I listened to an altercation take place just outside the door. No actions were taken by staff. On another occasion, I was greeted by a man smoking cigarette outside the entrance who told me to “smile” and asked why I looked so mad. Definitely not an inviting or safe atmosphere as a woman. I’ll take my business elsewhere.

It was great!! The bartender (Stacy) was fantastic. She was always ready to fill my drink or make me laugh with a cleaver joke. Place was clean and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Cozy, low key bar with very cheap drinks and food. I sampled a cheese steak, fries, and the wings. The food was very hot and tasty! The employees were so nice and friendly. The prices are so low!

While I was there, the owner came in and said ‘They let you back?”. I answered “What are you talking about”.

The owner said that I was kicked out because I didn’t pay for the food I had, and wrote a bad Google review.

I tried to tell the owner he must have me confused with someone else, and he answered “It’s you because of what happened and what you wrote on Google review”. Again, I told the owner that he must have me confused with someone else.

He called the cook and asked him what happened that day. The cook said that I wanted extra cheese served on a metal bowl I called the ‘Boat’.

The cook never said I didn’t pay for my meal. Actually, I asked for my money back but the waitress said that the manager or the owner was not there to refund my money.

What I actually did was forget about my money all together because I didn’t want to argue.

What bothers me are the following:

1) They have me confused with someone else who wrote the negative review

2) The owner, instead of listening to both side, he not only took me for someone else, but he also listened to their side only

A good business owner will never take the side of their staff or waitress without listening to the customer’s side also. What do you expect the waitress to say? The truth and possibly loose her job because she was rude to me?

I told the owner that that day, I left the premises to avoid further complications, and that I was never told not to come back again.

I’ve been in customer service for many years and learned that it is important to listen to both sides (staff and customers) before coming to a conclusion and take your staff’s side, especially when you, as the owner were not present at the time of the bad experience.

Some businesses will not care of 1 negative experience a customer had at their establishment, and from today’s experience with the owner, this business falls in that same category.

There are a lot of places where I can get my wings and cheese fries just the way I like them like Mimo’s restaurant a couple blocks away from this bar and lounge.

A week ago, I visited Mimo’s and ordered wings. Because their advertised hot wings were not to my heat experience, they took the extra steps to make my hot wings even spacier.

Because of their exceptional customer service and accommodations, I can say that Mimo’s will be the place to go for my hot wings, other sandwiches and entrees.

I believe that if you ask for fries with extra cheese, and you ask (several times) to have your cheese sauce in a larger container than the tiny plastic vessel (looks like a shot vessel), you should get what you ask for especially when the previous cook was extremely accommodating and more friendly than the one they now have.

I am paying for the extra cheese sauce, so why can’t they put it in a larger container so I can add my own hot sauce or hot pepper flakes?

I guess that was too much work for the cook.

I am willing to pay more for good food and accommodations, than for a lousy service I got at 505 Bar and Tavern.

I believe the cook’s name 501 Bar and Tavern should bring back is called Ben. Not only Ben was making great food (and I know this because I’ve been in the gastronomy field for over 30 years), he also had great customer service, good listening and accommodating skills.

If you are looking for great food and good experience, I highly recommend frequenting another tavern or restaurant.

But if you are looking to have a bad experience if the cook doesn’t give you what you want (taking the extra step to add more hot sauce to your wings, give you your cheese sauce in a larger container than the tiny plastic vessel, even though you are paying for it, then you can visit 501 Bar and Tavern.

Serving great food accompanied with poor service is not a sound business decision to make.

But serving great food with exceptional service is called ‘Good business’. Unfortunately, 501 Bar and Tavern doesn’t practice this old and trusted dogma.

We went to pickup some wings to go. The wings were tasty and not overpriced.

I’m looking forward to going for food and drinks at the bar sometime. It seems like my kind of place.. pool table, low lighting, friendly people, etc.
