My husband and I recently celebrated our 2nd anniversary at Kiln while visiting family in Cleveland, and we couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience. Being foodies from Dallas, we were excited to explore the culinary scene in this vibrant city, and Kiln did not disappoint!

The concept of shareable plates was perfect for us; we spent the evening sampling a variety of dishes and wishing we had more people at the table to try even more of the menu. We kicked off our meal with the Roasted Candy Striped Beets—absolutely a must-try! Be sure to have all the flavors in one bite to fully appreciate the greatness of this dish.

Next up, the mushroom tartlets were delightful, perfectly prepared and bursting with flavor. The Buttermilk Fried Chicken Livers were a decadent treat that we thoroughly enjoyed. We rounded out our selections with the Stuffed Cabbage, which paired beautifully with the Lamb Shank—an excellent choice that added to our unforgettable meal.

We also had a lovely wine from Stolpman Vineyards, La Cuadrilla, which complemented our dishes wonderfully. For dessert, we tried the Local Apple Crisp, a vegan dish that was good but could have benefited from a bit of fat to bind the topping properly and achieve the crispness typically expected in a classic apple crisp; it ended up being more of a dry crumble.

Overall, we absolutely loved our experience at Kiln and are already looking forward to our next visit. If you find yourself in Cleveland, make sure to check this gem out—you won’t regret it!

Very soft fresh atmosphere with delicious food. It was very intimate but also an awesome place so share plates amongst friends and family. I throughoughly enjoy small plate restaurants since I can never seem to figure out what I want to order. The wine menu was just enough and the server had amazing suggestions for pairings. All in all we had a great time and left more than satisfied. They even gave us an oatmeal chocolate chip cookie as a parting treat!

Kiln was a fantastic experience. Drinks were on point, I had the #6 cocktail which is essentially a negroni, both bitter and sweet.
Had 4 other dishes, all of which were sauced and plated perfectly, with detail and distinction of flavor.
Finished it all up with Baked Alaska, which was the best dessert I’ve ever had.
This is one of the greats in Cleveland.

This time our experience was average. Now, to be fair, we only tried 3 appetizers and one dessert but all 4 were average – i would put them all the category “I will try once but not worth ordering again”

Its a very warm atmosphere type of restaurant. Very typical Doug Katz style of restaurant – sharable plates. Everything we tried was really good, some things are better than others, but overall everything was very good. One standout is from their desserts – baked alaska was outstanding.

The service is quick and efficient

Absolutely recommended. Spacious, cozy, elevated decor and atmosphere. Service very attentive and helpful. Cocktails are tasty. The food has good presentation and is flavorful with new mixes. I loved the addition of cherry , plum … jam and sauces to the dishes. Well balanced flavors with high end ingredients. Pricey but worth it for quality and quantity.

Everything we ate was delicious! Our favorites were the ricotta dumplings, chicken, and steak. The popovers were a unique alternative to bread service that we appreciated. As a group of 4, we ordered 8 dishes and it was enough to split and still take some home. Cocktails were also good but not too memorable. We will come again!

I just love everything about this place – just like I live everything about Amba and Zhug, especially the mood setting lights. I was at Van aken and the moment I found that Kiln was in the area, me and my husband knew our anniversary celebration spot. The cocktails were at par and super tasty. The Ricotta dumplings stood out as suggested by other google reviewers. The portion size was phenomenal and would suggest serving breads as an option with Hummus. Hummus was so fresh and creamy! Loved every bit of it.
Thanks for a great experience and complementary dessert for our 2 🙂 ♥️

Lamb shank, ricotta dumps, and croquettes were bomb.com. Left emotionally attached.

Cocktails delicious as well. Wish I weren’t driving.

Leah is an excellent server.

Will come back for sure.

I’ve eaten at Kiln (and Doug’s other restaurants) many times and always thoroughly enjoy the food. The pork belly and the lamb shank in particular are some of my favorite dishes across all his restaurants. And as someone whose been gluten free for nearly 30 years, I love how many options there are for me. The reason I’m writing this review today is because of how spectacular the service was today (on New Years Eve, one of the busiest nights out). Sarah was our server and she was extremely friendly and personable, and touched our table a minimum of 10 times while we were dining. Between her and the other servers, our drinks were never empty. Good food makes a good restaurant; great service is what brings customers back.

Service and food were excellent. We definitely recommend making a reservation as we previously attempted to go on a weekend at 6:30 and there was a 3 hour wait. We came back today with a reservation and it was perfect. Food was amazing and we enjoyed everything. My favorite was the arctic char and popovers, but my husband really liked the braised lamb shank. However, I really don’t think you could go wrong with anything you order.
