I stumbled on this restaurant while searching bbq online. It offers a mix of American foods, including BBQ, burgers, steaks, and all-day breakfast. The setting was more diner-like up close.

The service, handled by a lone waitress, was commendable given she was working by herself. However, the food was a letdown. The burnt ends, which I usually love, were a disappointment here – overly burnt and with an old meat smell. The beans were subpar, but the onion rings were surprisingly good. Although the prices were low, the quality of the burnt ends reflected this, proving again that you often get what you pay for.

Overall, I was hoping for a great experience, especially since BBQ joints at gas stations tend to be good. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case. I wouldn’t recommend the burnt ends, but perhaps the breakfast might be worth trying, as it’s harder to go wrong with that.

We went there Sunday 9-21-25 for breakfast. Got there b4 10. They were busy but not crazy. There were empty tables. 3 guys in kitchen. Appeared one ticket at a time. Took us till almost 1130. To get our meals. Should have switched to lunch. Their chicken fried steak used to be delicious. This was deep fried mostly breading smothered in gravy. Horrible. Be awhile b4 try that again

I’ve always had a good experience here, but they are really good now. I had the thanksgiving day dinner and it was excellent. But what I’m really impressed by was the wait staff. They have a bunch of high school kids working, and they are well mannered, hard working, and very friendly. You don’t find kids this young like this in most places. They are working Thanksgiving day, with very positive attitudes, not complaining, and giving great service to their customers. Whatever, they are doing here, keep it up. Thank you sapp bros, and apple Barrel for a great experience.

I ordered an entree that included a garden salad, a side, and garlic toast. The food was what was to be expected for a chain diner. My server was brand new and was very nice, but she was not being trained well. When she brought my food, she didn’t bring the salad, so I asked for the salad. When I asked for the check, I just looked at the total, $39.92, so I gave her $50. Later, after I asked for a receipt, I happened to notice that she charged me for the salad that was supposed to come with the entrée. When I told her about it, she said they had to charge me because I asked for it after they brought my food, and I had to explain to her that it is on the menu included with the entrée, so she asked if I wanted to speak to the other waitress, but she was still very polite. When the other waitress, Ashley, came over, I explained to her what was going on, and she replied that because I didn’t ask for the salad while I was ordering, I had to pay extra for it. When I pointed to the menu where it says “served with,” she got indignant and asked if I wanted to talk to the cook and I said I wanted to talk to whoever is in charge as she walked off with an attitude. The cook then came to the table, and when I explained the situation, he was very apologetic and fixed it. When he told Ashley she was wrong, she made it obvious that she was not pleased about him not taking her side. Also, the “garlic bread” was only a slice of plain white bread, not even toasted. The service went from a 4 to a 1, then to a 2.

Staff was very patient with me as I was unfamiliar with this type of menu. Definitely recommend a breakfast bagel.

Super super slow and waitresses have no care to let you know about why your food is taking 45 min nor care to refill drinks while you wait..hopefully you receive hot food when you get it. Sucks when we as truck drivers just want a good hot meal in a timely manner bc we are on the clock or had a nerve wrecking day from the road..customer service is NOT what it used to be and definitely NOT important at this location ! Do better !!

Always good to sit down, take a break, and have some good food. Service was great. Had a burger with coleslaw instead of lettuce with a giant onion ring on top and a knife stabbed through to keep it together. Very good burger

A terrible experience.
I asked for grilled chicken strips which were on the menu and was given fried so she went and asked if I could get grilled. After 5 minutes of waiting while my husband had his food and it was getting colder and the soup was not hot to start with, she came back and said I couldn’t get the grilled ones. She brought my original ones back and I had to pick off the breading which I am not supposed to have. I asked for green beans and I did get those. She forgot my salad and as we were ready to leave asked if we wanted it to go. Since we were traveling from TX, that was not an option.
No one there made an effort to make it right.
Don’t bother going there.

The restaurant isn’t the same as I remember. The food quality has slipped, with mostly frozen items just heated for service, and the service was slower than expected. That said, I really appreciate them still offering extended hours breakfast. I know it’s not easy, but I’d love to see them get back to the home-cooked comfort food we’ve all enjoyed in the past!

We were a group of 10 on a Sunday morning. Place was packed. Young kids serving were working hard with smiles. The manager was amazing. She was helping back and forth between the kitchen and the dining area. If that’s how she always is I see why her team works hard. Food was exceptional. We expected a long wait with how busy they were but had our food in under 15 minutes. Everyone said their food was great. Steaks cooked perfect and the chicken fried steak was huge.
