Specifically, if you don’t mind going out a bit further in to Ypsi Township, Shawarma Plus is legit, IMO.

Excellent food, wonderful service, the salad is SO good and the chicken shawarma pita is one of the better ones I’ve had. Seasoned fries are also great. The main gentleman who has served us there is very polite & friendly and gave us free almond cake to take home. Four stars because while delicious, it is definitely more pricey than comparable places so we could only take the family once, and the cauliflower pita wasn’t great according to my vegetarian kid.

The good: hummus was tasty, salad was fresh, restaurant was clean and service was good. We opted for the platter for two, doesn’t specify that hummus was added so we added on the side. $79 with 15% tip for takeout, and the quantity/quality was not worth it. By comparison, the platter for 2 at Cedarland in Dearborn can easily feed 5 with leftovers. Food was “ok,” steak incredibly tough, chicken on the dry side, but the kofta was the strangest consistency and worst I have ever had. Hard, with a flavor profile that legitimately tasted like it was off – but no one got sick. I grew up in the Middle East and am familiar with the cruise. Trying lots of local places so we don’t have to keep drinking to Dearborn. Al-Reem ranged from good to meh. Maybe just avoid beef products? Or stick to vegetarian. Not worth the $80 spent and my family, for maybe the first time ever, didn’t eat the leftovers.

The owner of AL-REEM saw me posting and supporting Ypsilanti restaurants so they personally invited me in for lunch. I had the small Greek salad and the Lamb Gyro. The Greek salad was significantly above average with an abundance of cheese and spice. The gyro was pretty good once I smothered it in this amazing sauce. I will be back!

Stoped in this place to grab a bite to eat randomly. The gentleman at the front was friendly and chatty. We ordered lentil soup and a beef shawarma. The meat was good in the sandwich, but the bread was great! The lentil soup hit the spot.

We also ordered a big saj combo catering platter that was half beef, half chicken. The meat was tender and juicy and the kids loved the fries. Everything reheated perfectly in the oven when we got home.

I will definitely go back again when I go to that area. I’m not too familiar with this type of food, so I don’t know how to compare it with other Mediterranean places around. Everyone in my picky family enjoyed the food, so it was a big win!

I came in after work to get some lunch one of my favorite spot to get the chicken shawarma bowl! Today I added the avocado banana smoothie! The presentation was absolutely beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. The taste of the smoothies was absolutely delicious!!! I’d definitely recommend coming here to try all of these items on the menu especially the avocado banana smoothie!! You won’t be disappointed 10/10 DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.

We’ve tried this restaurant more than once, and every time it exceeds our expectations! Previously, we had their grilled meats, which were absolutely delicious and reasonably priced.

Today, we came back to try their breakfast — we ordered falafel, hummus, and tomato skillet with meat. And honestly, the falafel is the best we’ve had in any restaurant in Michigan — it tastes just like the falafel back home in Jordan. The hummus was smooth and flavorful, and everything was fresh and served hot.

The restaurant also has a beautiful view, which made the experience even better.

Highly recommend this place for both breakfast and lunch. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Staff was incredibly friendly and the gentleman who helped me order was not only sure to go above and beyond, but to also triple check my bag before walking out the door.

The food was excellent. My family ordered the beef and chicken shawarma, the regular falafel sandwich, side of hummus and bread. Great portions. My only critique: collectively we hope for a garlic sauce with more ‘kick’ in the future.

New favorite weeknight dinner spot!

Had a delicious meal here with my family! The food and service were great, prices were stellar, and we were able to get what we need. The hummus and falafel were some of the best I’ve had in Southeast Michigan!
