I arrived in the morning when there were no other customers present, yet I waited about 15 minutes before anyone provided a menu. The server was on a personal phone call, and I had to wait for the call to end before being assisted, which felt unprofessional.
When handed the menu, the menu was covered in food stains. Very dirty.
I ordered a café de olla and was told it was cold but that I would be given a fresh, hot cup shortly. That never happened. Instead, I was offered a fresh cup only after I had already finished my meal, by then, it was no longer needed.
There was a minor issue with how my eggs were cooked, nothing major but no one checked in on me. After waiting for some time, I had to approach the front counter myself with food in hand to ask if the eggs could be cooked a bit longer. I was met with confusion from the staff, which was uncomfortable as a customer. In addition I was served food on a cracked plate.
Overall, I didn’t enjoy the meal and ended up not finishing the food or drinking the coffee. The total was $26.96, and while a tip was requested, the tipping system wasn’t working. Even if it had been, the level of service did not warrant one.
I truly wanted this place to be a great addition to the community and was eager to support it. The owner seems like a genuinely kind and community-oriented person, which makes this experience even more disappointing. Unfortunately, based on today’s visit, I will not be returning. Tip to owners: Please have your employees not have their phones on them when on the clock. On going audio of what they were watching on the their phone instead of attending to the client or the restaurant. Perhaps this way they may keep an eye on the details that make a significant difference on a client’s food experience.
Now let’s talk about the real stars of the show: the food and drinks! I ordered the Cappuccino Frances and, wow—so smooth, so flavorful, and honestly? I’m still thinking about it. ☕ My daughter had the Macchiato and liked it as well.
For food, I had the chilaquiles divorciados with Cecina(thin steak), and yes, it was love at first bite. I leaned toward the ranchero side (that red sauce is everything ), while my daughter was all about the green. Match made in breakfast heaven!
We also tried the Mexican breakfast burrito, which packed a punch! ️ Fair warning: it comes with jalapeño peppers that bring the heat. If spice isn’t your thing, just let them know and they won’t put them in
All in all, such a cute little spot with a great vibe, delicious food, and the kind of coffee that makes you want to come back tomorrow.
Sugar Milk Cafe is definitely a cute spot – it’s got the aesthetic, fun drinks, and a brunchy atmosphere that feels perfect for a casual date. The food was alright, nothing mind-blowing, but it gets the job done. The coffee? A full-on sugar explosion. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you’ll love it – if not, maybe skip the drinks and stick to the basics.
Service was solid and friendly, and prices are fair for what you’re getting. Just don’t expect to be blown away by flavor. It’s more of a vibe spot than a go-to meal destination.
Great for the gram, but not quite a staple in the rotation.
Food was good & their specialty drinks are delicious. Will be going back for brunch during the weekend.
Overall, a great place!
