First time checking out The Owl Bar in Rice Village and we loved it! Great service, good local beers, and the pizza was awesome. We played some darts and just hung out — super chill and fun atmosphere. Festive Halloween decorations too! Russell at the bar was great! We were in town overnight for treatment at MD Anderson and this was the perfect spot to relax and unwind.

Great neighborhood bar with an unbeatable vibe. The Owl in University Village is always a solid spot, but what really makes it stand out is Claudia behind the bar — she’s awesome. Friendly, fast, remembers your drink, and keeps the energy just right whether it’s a slow night or packed. Drinks are on point, atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and it’s easy to settle in for a while. Highly recommend stopping by and catching Claudia if you can.

Really enjoy their happy hour drinks and free popcorn! The vault room has been great for reserved group events since it’s walled off and a nice size with TVs, tables, and chairs. The staff is so friendly & makes booking that space so easy. We look forward to returning!

Very unique bar. Came here to wait for a dinner and glad I did. Vibe is awesome and bartenders are chill and down to earth. plus…popcorn! If you are in area, I suggest this place.

Probably the best bar in Rice Village for a good drink and late night food
Vibe is somewhere in between classy and fun, you can expect a dim lit atmosphere with centerpiece candles on the tables, a nice little patio and the owl motif throughout the bar.
Service was cool. I ordered a ranch water and was offered salt or Tajin and it was really good… Ok ok fine I had 2 ranch waters and they were fantastic. The lemon drop martinis were good too.
There’s a few different seating areas including a bank safe room with a few seats and shuffle board game in there too.
I have to say my favorite part was the fact that the kitchen was open until 1 AM and they offer a nice variety of pizzas. Note these are not your typical frozen pizzas you would expect from a bar but a step or 2 above that. They’re actually pretty good.
I like the “low-key” vibe of this place. It’s almost easy to miss if you’re not looking for it but makes you feel extra cool once you’re there.
Cool spot to put on a nice shirt and enjoy a handcrafted drink or 2. Will be back!

Honestly, I don’t drink, but this seems like a really cool place. My friend was hosting a trivia night here, and it ended up being a lot of fun. I thought all the nearby stores were owned by the same people, so I bought a coffee and brought it into the bar — no one said anything! The staff were chill, and the vibe was great. I’d definitely come back again. Just didn’t feel like drinking alcohol this time, but maybe next time!

Friendly neighborhood bar , spent NYE there, good time, Bartender and cook awesome , owner great guy and loved by his staff. We had the pizza and did not disappoint. Above all, we are tourists from VA. and felt like at home, thanks, Cheers !

This is the perfect place to have a conversation over drinks. The ambiance is chill, the drinks were well priced (especially for the area). The vault is a great area to lounge and play table top games. I’ve been several times and I’ll def be back.

Really loved this bar. Super friendly bartender, awesome happy hour (until 7pm) and great vibe/crowd. Crowd is middle aged upwards. Has also some games like darts, board games, jukebox etc
