The pork ribs are the real deal at Uptown Takeout: rubbed with a spice mixture, then cooked low and lower over a smoker out back. Sauce’? That’s up to you. Also on the menu: tri-tip, pulled pork and chicken, served in sandwiches, tacos, nachos and quesadillas.

Reviews
• Collard greens – moist, soft, lacking flavor 3/5 due to lack of flavor
•Corn Bread – dry and not really sweet, but they give butter and syrup on the side if you love sweet or unsweetened so it makes sense. 3/5 due to dryness.
•Mac N Cheese – kinda plain but super cheesy and pasta shell was not undercooked nor overcooked. 3.5/5 due to lack of flavor but had lots of cheese .
•Ribs – if you’re craving Texas bbq expecting a flavorful season bark you’re not gonna get that here, it was super tender and had a bunch of bbq sauce. Best way to describe it Apple bee’s Ribs with Texas bbq style quality meat/tenderness. 3.8/5 due to lack of pure meat seasoning/flavor.
•Rib Tips – highly recommend if you’re a fatty/fatcap/cartilage lover. Basically the same as a Rib, but super tender and fatty although you will get inconsistent dry pieces and perfectly juicy fat pieces. 4/5 due to inconsistencies and lack of season.
•Tri-Tip – has a steak taste that you desire but lacks seasoning and not really tender. It does have fatcaps/cartilage, but has a bounce back/chew to it. 3/5 due to lack tenderness and seasoning but provides the steak taste you desire.
Summary: Overall this place is quite a steal and a bang for your buck! Greatly portion, great food quality, and super cheap for BBQ. This place has no dine-in room from the looks of it so a quick grab and go would be your way to eat. The location is kinda ghetto, but near a main road at least. The front receptionist girl was super kind and amazing greeted with hospitality and patience. Definitely would come back to try the other foods, but don’t expect “BBQ” / “Texas BBQ” kind of flavors. I haven’t had the brisket so I could be ideally wrong too. Place is around a ★4 – ★4.2 star worthiness imo with the cost of 3 meat plates being $20 before tax with 2 sides and a Shasta cola drink which is a great deal!
I ordered the 2 meat plate w/ ribs and rib tips with my sides being potato salad & corn on the cob ( would have been collard greens but they were out ) , i’d rate the meal a 9.5/10
The pricing is very good. The food is amazing and I’m glad I decided to stop by and give them a try. The ribs are fall off the bone and super tender. The foods super fresh and tastes authentic. I also got a pudding for the wait which was delicious a 9/10 for sure! Definitely will be back for more when ever I’m in the area. I’m curious what the tri-tip tastes like as they were also out of that sadly.
The place is weird from the outside–most windows on the front of the building are boarded, so it looks a bit defunct, but if you go to the side street and step inside, you’ll see Carlos is definitely in business! Seven days a week, in fact. He’s quite the busy entrepreneur, with skateboard decks, screen printing, and other business incorporated into this building. For me, the most important activity is the barbecuing he does out back each morning so customers can enjoy truly tender and delicious tri-tip with just the right amount of sweet and savory BBQ sauce, (They’re addicting!)
