If you’re traveling on I-80, near Ladd, IL and craving authentic Mexican food served with a smile, then Charro Tacos Mexican Restaurant and Bakery is the best decision you’ll make all day.
I was seated promptly and brought homemade salsa and chips. Shortly thereafter the owner replaced my half eaten tortilla chips with a fresh batch straight out of the fryer. I’ve never been fortunate enough to have fresh & hot tortilla chips before… so good! I’ve been missing out all these years!
I ordered the Charro Tacos dinner plate, which is three fried tacos served with beans and rice. Most excellent! Toward the end of my meal i was brought out a complimentary side of guacamole to taste test, as they had just finished making a new batch. Unexpected, appreciated and delicious!
I added an order of empanadas for the road, and they sat shotgun as I continued my road trip. Wonderful flavor!

The staff are the friendliest I’ve ever experienced. Our car broke down, and they were so generous and hospitable to us while we waited hours for a ride. The chips and guacamole are delicious!!! 10/10 I would recommend this restaurant to everyone in the area!
